My Gaia Journal
My profile pretty much tells about me and if anyone is interested, they can look there. But I've wanted to have a blog/journal for a while, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. This isn't going to be anything fancy, at least that's not my intent, but
Well . . .
I just came to post in my journal because I haven't done so in a long time. Then, I saw my last post. It is about an OC character (or something like that) I know it was written by me from the characteristics that are there and the style of writing. However, I have absolutely 0 memory of writing it. Sometimes, I wonder if I don't have two personalities because I sure lose out on an awful lot of time and yet, I accomplish things during that missing time. But I have no memory of what I've done then. Now, I'm interested in doing some role play and developing the character that I started just a bit more. It does look like a nice beginning for character development.

I'm done writing the book about my mother. It's in the final proofreading stage. It should go to the printer by the end of the month and be in print form for sale by July 1st. I'm hoping it doesn't take the printer more than two months to get us our books. I'll have the "first" draft in a 3-ring binder. Then I'll make changes requested and have the "final" draft in a second 3-ring binder. My third copy of the book will be the first printed edition. I'm using the term "print" rather than publish because I'm sending the book via pdf format and they will not be doing anything other than printing and binding. I already got the isbn myself and it's printed on the back cover of the book, along with the author information and the price, just like on any other book.

My second official writing job should be contracted by the end of next week. It will be about the 14-year long Women's Ice Hockey program at the University of North Dakota. My father was part of the original committee that hired the first coach and has been active with the team for their entire 14-year history. There will be personal stories, some facts and statistics, and plenty of pictures. The questions I'm looking at right now are: 1) who will have ownership rights of the book once it is completed; 2) how much will I get paid and what percent of the profits of book sales (royalty) will go to me; 3) what kind of timeline are we looking at for a publication date; 4) how much of the University owned property (official pictures, statistics, information about players and staff, etc.) will be directly available to me; 5) can I get an office on campus as a base of operations; and 6) what kind of updates am I required to provide. I'm interested in doing this because it would be my first contracted and paid book. But between the end of the book I'm just completing and this book that I hope to start soon, I wanted to write my own work of fiction. Now, though, it looks like the timeline on my private work is going to have to be set back up to a year. I don't want to work on two books at the same time.

I'm enjoying Gaiaonline quite a bit. I've actually made a few friends now. I feel confident sharing my thoughts and advice. I enjoy getting feedback from others. Someone told me, today, that I should play the Kindred game to make money more quickly, so I'll look into that tomorrow. I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure I'll be able to find information rather easily. But for now, it's time for bed. I have to take the dogs out, but I'll read for an hour or so before I do that to calm myself before going to sleep. Also, tomorrow, I have to look at the book club that I think I started. It was through another person and if they haven't gotten things going, then I don't know what I'll do. If they're on the ball and have it started up, then I'll set up the page and get it running. I want to have two books being read at all times, with them alternating weeks for reading and discussion, and only have two weeks to read them. This might seem a bit quick, but the books I am looking at are for fun reading and really don't take much time to get through. However, I probably read more than other people. I read about 60-100 pages an hour (just over a page a minute, depending on what else is going on around me), and usually two to three hours a day, sometimes more. I know most people don't read that much so I have to go the same pace as other readers, but I haven't seen a book club that moves quickly so it might be interesting to have one that does. Some people might like that better than ones where you've got a month to read a book and by the time you get around to discussing it, it's like six books back in your memory. I guess we'll see,.
