My Oh So Wonderful Journal
Slow, steady, gentle. She could hear her heartbeat, feel it in her chest and against his hands. Her eyes fought to stay open, fluttering shut before she snapped them open again, only to feel her lids grow heavy and harder to keep open. With every second it was growing more difficult to remain aware, to be ready to fight.

“Rest, my darling. Relax. Soon it will stop, soon you won’t hurt anymore.” The music in his voice soothed her, made her want to submit and lose focus. It made her want to trust him again.

She forced her eyes open one last time when she felt his hand lift. In his hand he now held a scalpel.

“Shh, don’t fight, my dear. Just one small cut, that’s all. You won’t feel anything,” he murmured, smiling sweetly. The smile scared her more than the blade in his hand.

He lowered the scalpel, pressed the cold metal against her chest. Watched with pleasure as he felt the faint resistance before the blade slid smoothly through her skin. Red followed the knife and the coppery scent of blood filled the air. He closed his eyes, savoring the smell, the taste in the air. His form rippled before her, molded smoothly from the human guise to his true form. A clawed hand plunged into her chest, causing a startled scream to erupt from the girl’s throat. He jerked his hand free, holding her still-beating heart. And while crimson life poured into the gaping chasm in her chest, he feasted upon her heart, savoring every delectable morsel while listening to the cacophonous music of her screams.
