Chapter 3
TABSara came to, looking up to see Xander hovering over her.
TAB“Are you okay?” Xander asked worriedly.
TAB“Honestly, I have no idea.”
TAB“What happened? Blackout again?” Xander asked, helping his friend up.
TAB“I guess… I don’t even know what I’m doing out here,” Sara sighed.
TAB“We’re going to see a movie, Tori’s meeting us there. When did you pass out?”
TAB“Zante jumped on me before breakfast and a shower. But, I was hearing that voice again… It’s even more sarcastic in the morning than normal.”
TAB“Blame it on your dog. Nice,” Xander said, grinning before they started down the street.
TABThey reached the theater about twenty minutes later, with Tori waiting impatiently outside.
TAB“Hurry up! The movie starts in five minutes, you were supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago!” she snapped, glaring at the two for being so late.
TAB“Sorry, it happened again,” Sara muttered, returning the glare. It wasn’t her fault she was constantly blacking out. She didn’t notice Xander mouth “Sara” to Tori, telling her which personality it was.
TABTori nodded, turning on her heel and walking off into the theatre and leaving the other two no option but to follow.
TAB“A chick flick. You two dragged me into a chick flick,” Xander moaned, sulking after the movie.
TAB“But it was so beautiful!” Tori sobbed into what was left of the popcorn, drawing a heavy sigh from Xander.
TAB“Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone you cried at the end when the fish died,” Sara teased, grinning and ducking as Xander pretended to hit her.
TAB“Sara, we need to get together tonight. The movie was so sad; we can’t end with that ending!” Tori choked, still sobbing hysterically.
TAB“So, can I come?” Xander asked, having a feeling they’d be going to the club.
TAB“Nope. Girl’s night, unless you wanna dress the part again,” Sara retorted, drawing a glare and sigh from Xander.
TAB“Never again… You hadn’t told me you would be making me wear that…” Xander grumbled, shuddering at the memory.
TAB“But you’re such a pretty girl!” Sara teased, making Tori start choking on her tears. Laughing and crying hysterically tended to do that to her.
TABOnce Tori was breathing normally again the two girls started making plans around Xander.
TAB“So, meet outside at, seven?”
TAB“Sounds good, see ya then,” Sara replied, waving as Tori headed the opposite direction.
TAB“And if you show up we’ll make your life hell,” Sara promised Xander, drawing a resigned nod from the boy. He knew she would keep her word, or at least that her other self would, just as she always knew what had happened.
TAB“Don’t you do that anyway?” Xander asked, turning to face her with a grin.
TAB“That’s why ya love me,” Sara replied, laughing.
TAB“Yeah no,” Xander retorted.
TAB“Xander!” The wail came from inside the house and a little blonde child ran outside to hug her brother. “Sissy’s being mean and is hogging the TV. She won’t let me watch Dora!” she complained.
TAB“Britney! Get back here!” Kat yelled, running outside. “Oh, it’s you two. What, aren’tcha gonna kiss her?” she asked dryly, a hand on her hip.
TABSara mimed gagging, Xander only blushing faintly.
TAB“Come here sweetie. Does your brother have a crush?” Sara asked, picking the four-year-old up.
TAB“Uh-huh!” Britney answered excitedly, her face lighting up. She loved sharing secrets, especially about her brother or sister. “Ooh, pretty,” She whispered, staring at Sara’s necklace. The small, kite-shaped gem sparkled in the sun, hanging on a thin silver chain.
TAB“You like it?” Sara asked, smiling and shifting Britney to her hip.
TAB“Why don’t you ever wear something else? I mean, I have dozens that are prettier,” Kat said from the door, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
TAB“And they’re all incredibly gaudy and cost about a whole two cents,” Xander retorted, glaring at his thirteen year old sister.
TABSara felt the haze coming and she set Britney down. “Honey, why don’t you go inside. Kat’ll let you watch Dora,” she said, giving the child a little push towards the house. She saw Xander take a step towards her before she blacked out again.
TABSaro woke up within two seconds, slumped against Xander. “I’m fine,” she murmured, before turning to Xander’s sister.
TAB“Katherine. You need to cut the crap and get an attitude adjustment. Or I’m going to thoroughly enjoy pulling those pretty little earrings out of your ears and eyebrow. Kay?” Saro said quietly, regarding the teen coolly.
TABKatherine shrank back, unnerved by the senior. When she was like this, Saro seemed to take on a disturbing persona, one which would do anything with no regard to the consequences.
TAB“Saro… Stop it. Yes she’s a pain, but don’t terrorize them. For Britney’s sake,” Xander said, not seeing Kat flee to her room. He glared at Saro, holding her wrist to keep her from doing anything.
TAB“Sorry. She just pisses me off to no end,” Saro muttered, pulling free and starting down the sidewalk. Once home she slipped up to her room, taking out a sketchbook and starting to draw.
