OctoCamo's Diary
I write here what I please and act like someone cares.
Starting with couple orders from earlier this month that were already mentioned in previous journal entry.

Last months Loot Crate was about agents. I was disappointed that it didn't have anything Archer related in it, though it came with a white James Bond t-shirt I forgot from the picture and I can always use more t-shirts. It had a replica badge from Marvel's Agents of SHIELD which I saw many people geek over, but I haven't seen the show so far, so unfortunately I wasn't as excited about it.

Also second volume of Anime Limited's Kill la Kill collector's editions box sets came out. One more left that's supposed to come out in May. They were boasting on getting an exclusive artbook, so I had bit higher expectations than what I got. But it's still pretty nice.

I got Mortal Kombat X: Kollector's Edition. I've been big fan of the series for a long time and thought that they had outdone themselves with Mortal Kombat 9, so I've been quite excited for this release. Even still I've only managed to put in just enough time for couple matches and AI mopped the floor with me. I should start the story mode, hopefully it's even half as good as story mode in MK9. I like the statue, but otherwise the collector's edition is bit of a disappointment. Steelcase is nice looking, but it's one of those that just has the ugly hinge on the spine without games title... Also the comic is 12 friggin' pages, that's not even a proper comic issue. Considering that they've already released 144 page Volume 1 that's like 10 bucks, I think they could've done better with 100 euro Collector's Edition. Or at very least give it an exclusive "Collector's" cover variant...

Aaaand then to the newer stuff.

This month's Loot Crate came as well, it was shipped much faster than the past crates which was surprising. I'm not familiar with Dungeons & Dragons but the shirt is really nice in this one. I also like the Game of Thrones Stark USB stick that was 4GB. Bowtie is pretty nice too. I don't wear them, but Roki looks pretty sharp with it.

Got a bunch of Ghibli movies because they were on sale. Haven't watched Nausicaa or The Wind Rises before. It's also been about time for me to rewatch Princess Mononoke. Spirits Away and The Cat Returns are some of my favorites, also really liked Howl's Moving Castle. Laputa I honestly didn't care much for when I watched it way back.

The right earplug from my nice LG ones that came with my phone broke while ago after taking a dive in our dog's water bowl. Been using Apple's earplugs since (which has survived full machine wash multiple times), but while they're really good, they don't fit my ears well. Also my Steelseries Siberia headset's right side broke (this is third pair of these headsets I've had. All had the same problem...) A local store had 50% off of some headphones and earphones, so took the opportunity to buy new ones. Bought Motörhead Overkill earplugs with microphone which are pretty nice and House of Marley Positive Vibrations on-ear headphones. They're "nature friendly" being made from recycled materials. Like headband and carrying bag are made of reclaimed hemp, organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles. Sound quality is good, but they're the pretty uncomfortable, maybe on-ear ones are just something that takes time to get used to. That is why I've just kept using my Sony headphones.

Besides the regular comic series I've been following, I've been reading bit of manga.

All You Need Is Kill started being translated in Finnish. Tom Cruise movie from recents years "Edge of Tomorrow" was based on this series. I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, so wanted to check the manga out. So far I liked the movie better, though I kind of wish it would've had cool Master Chief armors and battleaxes like the source material. The comic and movie is about a soldier who's sent to fight alien forces and manages to get himself into a time loop where every time he gets killed, he wakes up day before the operation and this way keeps getting better at the fight. That reminds me of Dark Souls. Steins;Gate is also going to be translated here, which I'm actually really excited about.

I also picked up a manga series Prison School which is about a group of guys who gets accepted into previously all-girls school. Boys gets themselves in all sorts of crazy situation including being imprisoned for months by the official underground student counsil. It's a pretty shameless fanservice series, but it's also really really really damn funny.

Some stuff I've been watching was Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series which was AMAZING! I never cared for Daredevil character in comics, but it seems that Marvel can make a great shows or movies out of any character. And while speaking of Marvel, I went to watch Avengers: Age of Ultron which was another solid Marvel film. I would say I liked it better than first Avengers since Ultron is essentially a robot Tony Stark in this and Tony Stark was the best parts of the first film.

The summer is coming. That's easily noticable from the fact that everything on TV ended or went on a break and now besides 50 minutes of Game of Thrones and 11 minutes of Steven Universe, there's NOTHING to watch. If anyone can recommend any shows that would redeem Tuesday and Wednesday as a worthwhile days, please let me know... I need to start a new show in Crunchyroll or cancel my subscription. I watched couple episodes of Terraformers which is about group of people going to Mars to fight superhuman cockroaches, but while it was okay, I can't say I'm that into it.

Also want to say that Steven Universe has become one of my favorite things and my current primary obsession. I can't wait for new episodes and I'm hooked to the music. Both original soundtrack and remixes. I like that it's short episodes, but because of that one episode a week is just torture...

My phone company managed to get me order a tablet from them which I should be getting early next week. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 with unlimited 4G mobile connection. I'll be enjoying reading digital comics and watching videos from a bigger screen than my phone, also hoping that it'd be decent for drawing. Besides that any special use for a tablet that couldn't be done on an android phone?

=== UPDATE: May 25th, 2015 ===

Happy Birthday to me! I'm 24 now.

=== UPDATE: May 26th, 2015 ===

Holy smoke, Batman! Cover of The New 52 Batman #40 lured me in and the volume starts with Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Killer Croc, Clayface, Penguin and some others helping Batman to stop rad looking Joker and ends in Batman and Joker fighting in underground cave AND FRIGGIN DYING.

And speaking of dying, we just got The Amazing Spider-Man (originally in US) issue 700 and my mind was blown. PETER PARKER DIED AND OTTO OCTAVIUS BECAME SPIDER-MAN!? But I found out that we're years behind, so this is old news. I'm shocked that I hadn't found out about it earlier. I didn't see this coming.

Besides that on the comics front, I've been reading Spider-Gwen, Ms. Marvel and The Walking Dead. Each are going pretty strong, but man, Spider-Man and Batman got me blown away and thanks to that I don't really have much to say about the rest. :/ Guardians of the Galaxy have been slipping under my radar a bit thanks to Black Vortex arc that I just couldn't be bothered trying to follow...

On manga front, I got really hooked to Prison School staying up to early mornings because I couldn't put it down. Of course thanks to this, I caught up to newest chapter so now I'm just waiting for new chapters. Also been keeping up with Attack on Titan and Space Brothers. And like I mentioned earlier, Steins;Gate manga started getting Finnish translation and the first volume came out yesterday on my birthday.

Also while talking about reading, I got my first issue of Famitsu. No special reason why I bought this issue specifically.
User Image

Ordered a Playstation Vita case that with some sort of magic replaces the L2 / R2 corners of back touchpad with regular L2 / R2 buttons which should make remote play way nicer. (Couldn't get a nice looking picture of it). Anyway decided to get the latest Famitsu with it since it barely made any difference in shipping price. It was really interesting going through the magazine. It came with a nice looking card that's for some Arcade game, nice Disgaea 5 poster and it even had some small pouch that will have a random DLC code in it, but didn't bother opening it up since I'm not going to use it anyway. It also came with some sort of guidebook for God Eater 2 Rage Burst.

Also today in mail, I got one of my favorite comics from my childhood. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past by Shotaro Ishinomori that was released in Nintendo Power back in the days. (Or over here in Nintendo-Lehti). I'm so happy that they finally re-released it as a nice album since the original album was going for a lot of money.
Here hoping that Kentaro Takekuma's and Charlie Nozawa's Super Mario Adventures gets similiar treatment in near future.
User Image

Haven't been watching a lot of stuff. Really only Game of Thrones now that Steven Universe went on hiatus with only "returning later this summer" with rest of television. At least Game of Thrones has been really exciting. I did get a blu-ray box set of series called Bloodlad. Have no prior knowledge of the show. I got it from Anime Limited because they gave me £30 store credit that was expiring this month for damaged Gurren Lagann case.
User Image

What comes to games. I played Splatoon in the "test fires" demo and I found it really fun, so I ended up ordering the game. I'm really happy that Nintendo is taking the risk of making it a new IP instead of forcing it into Mario mold. Also got really excited over Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter and pledged to get signed Collector's Box Set. As for the games that I actually got already. I finally got around buying remasters of Final Fantasy X / X-2 since it got HD Remaster Remaster on PS4 and didn't get around buying it on PS3 or Vita earlier.
User Image

I also got The Witcher 3. Saw a little bit of it in videos and damn it was looking great. I'm still bit conflicted jumping in without starting the series from beginning, but third is supposed to be more newcomer friendly anyway. It still blows my mind that they would just put in a nice map and a proper soundtrack with regular copies of the game. They even put in a thank you note and small booklet to get you up to date with Witcher's characters and story. Oh, and stickers.

But on top of the regular edition, there is also Collector's Edition. I was kicking myself in the head for missing out on The Witcher 2 CE, so this time I got one. It's Xbox One version because they got the cloth map and cards exclusively. Statue is really nice, but the AMAZING artbook and Witcher pendant were the selling points for me. Statue looks bit awkward in pictures, but in person it's really neat.

=== UPDATE: June 1st, 2015 ===

This month's Loot Crate came. Theme was "Unite". The T-shirt is one of my favorites so far, but other than that the crate was bit of disappointment. The Mad magazine is pretty nice though and Bravest Warriors might be interesting. Puzzle, car decal and the pins are absolutely useless to me.

On top of the manga starting coming out in Finland, the Steins;Gate Vita port also finally saw it's UK release.
I was so excited that it even came out that I had pre-ordered it. Later found out that they would've had a really nice edition with Metal Upa, but now I can't get it and I'm sad. sad I hate store exclusivity.
User Image
Also Solid Snake Figma figurine from Metal Gear Solid 2 that I pre-ordered back in December arrived today. It's pretty cool.

=== UPDATE: June 29th, 2015 ===

I have a hopeless friends who can't speak a word of english and doesn't have eBay account or Paypal. He asked me to get some Count Duckula figurines for him. They were lame. But I happened to come by this Kotobukiya counterfit for a low price and since I'm on bit of a Steins;Gate boom at the moment, couldn't resist it. It looks pretty nice, much nicer than ended up looking in the picture. It deserves space on my shelf.

User Image

Also got the yarn Yoshi Amiibo for the new game I don't care about. I ordered this way back with my inkling. I tried cancelling it while back, but the store never processed the cancellation. But I guess I'm happy that they didn't because it's gorgeous.

User Image
And speaking of inklings. I got this in mail today also. Now I can master Splatoon.
As soon as I master my Japanese that is. Prepare to get rekt in 2028.
I bought it for the art section which internet had hyped up.
But turns out it's like 25 pages only.

=== UPDATE: July 15th, 2015 ===

The new Loot Crate came. But I'm far too lazy to take a photo and already gave one of the items away. It was a pretty good Loot Crate, two of my favorite items are Terminator Genesys stuff. Half scale endo skull decoration and Neural Net CPU keychain. It also came with a pretty nice Borderlands 2 mousepad with picture of Zero on it. I gave it to friend's kid because he's big into Borderlands at the moment and I already have a mousepad. The t-shirt was also pretty kickass with disco Optimus Prime. Disco being kind of a theme of the update for me because the other thing I got since last update (today in fact) is...

*drum roll*

Persona 4 Dancing All Night

User Image

It's one of my favorite collector's editions I have. The box is amazing. The 2 disc soundtrack is super amazing. Wallscroll is really nice, though I wish it would've had the whole cast of characters. Bandana is nice and suits Roki. 3D Crystal is really cool and I'm happy that the light base works with batteries. And the art cards for all characters are really cool looking too, though with these kinds of things I'm always clueless what I should do with them.
