OctoCamo's Diary
I write here what I please and act like someone cares.
Update: Dec. 30th

Winter is here and it's only uhm... DECEMBER!? How has time gone so fast this year. Jeez. The picture is from November. We had a snowy week, but I managed to be sick the whole time so only went out few times the whole time. Walking on the fresh snow is the best.

There's been a lot of organizational changes at work and they seem to keep coming. A lot of management has changed in past few months and now I heard that my plant manager is also leaving soon. Makes me bit worried to see everyone abandoning the ship.

Been playing some Fallout 4 since last update and I've been enjoying it very much. Easily the best Fallout game made by Bethesda. But other than that I don't have a lot to say about it. Not for anyone who hasn't played it themselves yet at least.

I made few purchases again this month. Finland was trying to do Black Friday this year, so most of my purchases are from then. Only one of them has arrived though, but I'll leave that one for the last.

I went to a big shopping mall few hour drive away from our place with my mom, aunt and uncle. Only grabbed few items, but I'm pretty happy about them. My mom got jealous of my Star Wars Episode VII Captain Phasma mug, apparently I should have notified her of them so she could've bought one for pretty much everyone as a Christmas present. I haven't watched Adventure Time, but I've seen some of the songs and I love Marceline, so I'm pretty happy that I got her from the blind box. And the only more costly purchase in the bunch is Kid Icarus Uprising for 3DS. I've been avoiding buying this because for three years I've never seen it go below ridiculous 50€ even with beaten up box, so by now it's become a matter of principle that I'm not going to pay full price for. I was hesitant to buy it this time too when I found it for 40€, but figured that it's the best deal I'll get. Of course next day it went down to 25€ on a UK retailer as cyber monday deal and couple days later Finnish store dropped price to 30€. Do I sound salty? I'm not salty. Also went to Mexican restaurant for the first time in the mall. I ordered a bacon burger and Apple Pie.

I haven't gotten amiibos in a while, but now I have Twilight Princess HD bundle (which has Wolf Link w/ Midna amiibo) and Falco Lombardi amiibo ordered. I also got this, although I intend to give this to a friend as a Christmas present since they're huge Earthbound fans. I just need to find the best shipping option that won't cost me a kidney. Note: I did send it to the friend with some Finnish treats.

But then we get to the one Black Friday purchase that has arrived, Celestron Cosmos LT 60AZ telescope.

I've wanted telescope for a long time, but it's one of those things that I always lean towards jumping straight to higher end professional ones which would cost a ton of money, but not knowing how much I would end up using it has been turning me off from buying one. This one is an entry level one, but it was only 75 euros so I'm really happy. It's been cloudy and rainy since yesterday so I haven't gotten a look at the night sky with it, but this morning I got a look at the moon and I'm happy so far. This is my first attempt at taking a photo through the eye piece. I'm sure I can get a better one, especially if I use the tripod for the camera too.

UPDATE: December 20th

I went to see Star Wars: Episode VII with few friends at second showing. I thought it was really good, but the most iconic scenes where already in the trailers. It's one of the better films in the series and that's something to be said since I think there's already five and a one fourth of a good movies in there.

I ordered a package from Nippon again, so threw some candies in there again.
The main item I wanted was the Ghost in the Shell manga.

The cola wheels are like wafers with the generic cola taste. It's not bad, but somehow I find them bit repulsive.
The two type of cone candies are really good and Japan tends to nail potato chips. They're always thin and crispy. Chips over here tend to be bit from the harder side. Fit's are bubblegum. Luigi ones are actually pretty good, but the Kamehameha tasting ones aren't bad either. Really chewy so one could probably make a good bubble with these.

UPDATE: December 30th

Christmas came and went. My brother came and stayed night. I got him Dark Souls and a nice lamp since he doesn't have a light source in his house. He didn't bring gifts or my gaming desktop back. Food was good. I didn't ask for any gifts, so I just got couple clothes, hygiene set and money with few month subscription to Donald Duck magazine with hardcover album and shoulder bag that came as subscription bonus.

But just before Christmas I got myself a new laptop. Mostly I just wanted a computer that doesn't sound like a jet engine, but this one has i7 processor (only dual core though) and Nvidia GeForce GPU so it can handle some gaming.

On 25th I got a peek at the full moon, but it was cloudy so taking pictures was very difficult. On 26th we had a clear sky though, so I gave it a better shot and it turned out okay. I can't wait for technology getting to a point where they can put camera in your eyeball and you can capture everything exactly like you see it.

And yesterday I got some sweets and games.

User Image

These Meiji Banana chocolates and Fanta Melon soda were part of the Japan box x from bit earlier, but for whatever reason they were sent in separate box. They're both good, but not really anything special. If I was in Japan, I could see myself getting them again. Japanese have so many interesting flavors of Fanta, I really want to try a lot of them. But as for the games I got.

User Image

I still haven't even started Pokemon Alpha Sapphire yet, but I couldn't resist getting this when I found that there is a special bundle that comes with a small Pokeball game cart holder. It was previously a pre-order bonus in UK for Pokemon X & Y (I think). Also I got it in sale as it was a leaving product and that never happens with Pokemon games. Also from the same sale I got...

User Image

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain collector's edition. I was underwhelmed with it especially due to half scale arm, but now that I got it from a sale I think it's pretty neat. My favorite thing is the Diamond Dogs emblem, which turned out to be a magnet. I always thought it was just part of the box. Steelbook is also nicer than I thought and holds both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. And the game case doesn't have the stupid "Day One Edition" mark on it, though this one is ruined with "Do not sell separately" tag in the bottom... ******** Konami!

But I'm really psyched that Kojima already started his own studio and that he took Yoji Shinkawa senpai with him.
