OctoCamo's Diary
I write here what I please and act like someone cares.
My work contract has been extended to mid-August. I've been covering for a guy who's sick leave should end again in mid-July and last two weeks of July I'm on vacation. If the guy comes back as planned, this will be my last contract extention, but who knows what he's going to do... Not that I would mind not working for a while while getting paid 80% of my paycheck by the union.

I need to start putting some money to side. I might be going to London to attend some events in October. I want to gather up at least 2000 euros for the trip. It would be my first time outside the country and in a plane. If you know something in London that I should check out, please let me know.

But speaking of saving, let's move on to the stuff I wasted money on since last update.

I got couple of artbooks again. Godzilla one isn't quite as picture heavy as I would've wished, but still really interesting. Quite similiar to Pacific Rim artbook. It's from same publisher, so maybe it's some kind of standard. Monster Hunter one is very impressive, I ordered the first volume too but still waiting for it. Also ordered Mass Effect artbook since I felt ME Universe artbook was lacking in content. I'm hoping that first games own artbook at least has some Reaper artwork...

Speaking of Mass Effect, I found some collector's editions from Amazon.
Been wanting the first one's for quite some time. Pre-owned ones are really cheap on Amazon.

With the first games Collector's Edition, I also ordered the one for Mass Effect 3 since it was cheap too. The steelbook was in very bad condition though (the other side is super scratched). I was able to get 50% refund for it, so it only cost 5 euros. Happy enough with it. It's not as unimpressive as I though when the game came out. Back then I thought it was flatout insulting in it's underwhelmingness.

Big purchase of the month is Playstation 4.
I've been very anti-next-gen, but the simple truth is that Xbox 360 and PS3 won't give the best console experience anymore. I don't want to miss out on better Far Cry 4, Mortal Kombat X and Metal Gear Solid V and even remastered Grand Theft Auto V and The Last of Us experience just out of stubborness.
Was never interested in Infamous series before, but oh my God how much I enjoyed Infamous: Second Son. I had hard time chosing if I wanted it or Watch Dog. I was leaning more towards Watch Dog, but ended up asking my mom who was in the store with me which one I should get. Which essentially was a coin flip since it's not like she has an educated opinion on them. She chose Infamous, so ended up going with that and I'm glad that I did.
inFAMOUS: Second Son has been by far the best game I've played in next generation so far.
Also got Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, but it came too late for the photo.
It's okay, though I wouldn't have given it any awards really.

Also decided to get the wireless headset for Playstation 4. They're pretty good. I love the wirelessness.
Although wireless connection could be stronger. Signal is easily blocked. Though if you're pretty still facing the TV, there shouldn't be problems. If there is you can use 3.5mm audio cable to plug it into controller.

Went to my friend's place yesterday and hanged out whole day after work.
We ate some pizza and played some video games. I borrowed him my Xbox 360 and pile of games and we played Double Dragon Neon until evening when we went to watch new Transformers: Age of Extinction. In the theater we bumped into a ex-co-worker who joined our group. We saw him in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and/or Godzilla too. Apparentally he starts weekend by going to cinemas couple times a month. Sounds like a fun habit. From the cinemas, I bought a Godzilla poster. I reserved one when I saw the film, but never picked it up.
I liked the TF movie, it was bit too long and dinobots (who were cool as ********) could've used a lot more screentime. After the movie me and my friend went back to his place and continued playing. Went through couple of fighting games and in the end played a bit of beginning of Dishonored. I couldn't get into it, though that might've been because of small SDTV that made it hard to see anything. Part of me forgot they're still among us...

=== Update July 1st ===

One of the Youtubers who I've been following for unboxings decided to move back to collecting normal versions and is selling out all of his Collector's Editions. Bought the four CEs here from him.

I had collector's editions of Final Fantasy XIII and Lightning's Returns, so it only seemed fitting that I would get one for Final Fantasy XIII-2 too. I purchased it without the game since it was a regular NTSC version anyway. I already have a PAL version of the game. I really appreciate full soundtracks in Collector's Editions.

Metal Gear Solid 4 I also bought without the game for same reason. Mostly got it for the soundtrack.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 steelbook was just too cool to miss out on. Outer box and artbooklet are pretty nice too.

I was super disappointed to find out that European Metroid Prime Trilogy came with normal plastic case. I've been keeping eyes open for American edition with the steelbook ever since.
I finally got a chance to get one for fair price, so I did.

And more Monster Hunter things. I needed a bag for my 3/DS', this one looked pretty rad. And second volume of Monster Hunter Illustrations artbooks was really impressive, so I got the first volume too.

=== Update July 19th ===

This came long time ago, though I've been super tired and lazy, so never got around adding it.
And after being disappointed in Mass Effect Universe artbook being too Mass Effect 3 heavy (which I would be fine with, if they called it Art of Mass Effect 3), I finally got the artbook for the first game.

Was at the birthday party of my cousin and his dad.
He was playing inFamous: Second Son, saw him play the last stage and boss.
Games don't normally hold his attention, though he had gotten it as a gift from his brother and he also had really liked the game.I don't usually have much to talk about with this guy, he usually just talks about cars so it was nice to talk about gaming with him for once. His little brother is the nerdy one who I have more in common with. The nerdy brother had made Batman cupcakes for his own birthday in April.

=== Update July Something ===

Couple more artbooks. Nothing super exciting, just illustrations from books and other media instead of concept art.
