Pointless War
There has always been war,
Through each painful step you've walked,
Why did you choose now to give up?
When you already had what you fought for.
Perhaps you're addicted to this war now,
You seek to draw blood where none need be,
You've been met with the impossible, you think,
She created a new world within your own.
As you pushed the point deep within her heart,
She smiled a smile that didn't reach her eyes,
And said without words exactly what was needed,
It's ok not to fight, it's ok to be you now.
Your feet felt so heavy in that moment as you saw,
She's been here all along, bathed in your blood,
Such sacrifice even as she screamed in pain,
She knew that she was never the answer.
One rainstorm after another when others fell, you lived,
With conviction she spoke color that she could not see,
With the belief of a single moment's glimpse,
Of the world you've carried for so long.
In anger she shattered your calloused world,
Bringing fear and pain as she walked,
You're not the only one who carried the world,
You saw the awesomeness of true pain in each word.
She has little left for you now,
She has carried your world with hers,
There is no downpour to mask my tears now,
You have no reason to wish for one.
There is no answer like the one you search for,
It's been waiting within you all along,
Waiting for you to finally hear that whisper in her words,
"It's ok to stop fighting."
She can complete you as you can her,
You've always known this so why do you fight?
The time has come to rest your blade where it was,
She holds fulfillment right at your doorstep.
