My various whatnots
Ding Dong Doodily Do!!!
Today in my philosophy class we did this…exercise…in which we were supposed to write down some problems, then write down ten questions that, if we had the answers to the questions, we could solve the problem…and…I attempted that process for the problem that I’ve been thinking about for a while…this is how it worked. First, write down the problem.

Problem: Should I put myself in a position that would have me committed to an asylum?

After that, write down your questions about the problem, mine were as follows

1. Do I think I am insane?
2. Do other people think I am insane?
3. Do I present a danger to other people?
4. Do I present a danger to myself?
5. Would the medication they give actually help me?
6. How would being committed effect the people I care about?
7. Could I really handle life in an asylum?
8. Would I end up in a public or a solitary ward?
9. Would it be a permanent or a temporary commitment?
10. Would it prevent my suicide?

After making the questions, he said do around ten, could be more, could be less…anyway, after doing the questions, he said go back and look at each question and figure out what you would need to do in order to answer that question, and write it down. Mine was as follows.

1. Analyze my life, see if I present any symptoms
2. Look to the people around me or qualified professionals on this matter
3. Look around at other people and see if i endanger them in any way, or if i could present a potential danger.
4. Look at my own life and see if I have ever intentionally endangered myself.
5. Look up the different medications that match the symptoms I present and see how effective they are, estimate based on information I gain.
6. Ask them
7. Look up information about life in an asylum, determine if I am mentally capable of dealing with it.
8. Check my symptoms against how patients who exhibit my symptoms are usually treated.
9. Look up my symptoms and see how serious they are and how the patients are usually handled
10. Examine my life and find my answer.

After that…he said we should be able to find our answer…if there was an answer…what do you all think?
