Feeling :: smile
Aside from the bitter cold and nasty North wind, life is going along great. The New Year is almost here, which shocks the yin and yang from me, because I can't believe another year has already flown by. But it has and at what speed! It seems like only a couple of days ago that I registered with Gaia. I still remember the buzz about January's items and what was to be in February's letter. ^^ I've also caught myself "catching" on to a few things about Gaia, which comes after being around for so long. It almost makes me feel dated. ^^;;;
This morning I fixed up my banners for my items. The font is smaller and I don't have to worry about transparency problems. One day I'd like to know how to save a transparent png, because it is possible, but for some reason, not for me. Is it my programme? Is it the way I save the files? Maybe a combination. One day I'll figure it out.
Yesterday moved by me to quick for me to properly finish my journal entry. I meant to marvel of how quickly I was plowing through my first quest for 2005. It's actually going to be finished in 2004. In fact, it could be finished today.
Yesterday I tacked on another 500 gold. I worked out the details of how much I needed to have by Friday evening's end. Guess what? I've tacked on another 500 gold. That brings me up to 3,500 gold. I think I must have had 5,000 on the brain, for it is very apparent that I'll be able to earn the additional 500 (if not most of it) by this evening. That means I can start on another quest tomorrow. Or this evening, depending on my energy levels and whether I'm thawed or not.
I'm thrilled to bits that I'm able to complete the 4,000 gold quest. It's not much, but when you see people asking for gold because they are poor (never mind the fact that they're wearing a ZONY discman/player or some other expensive item), it adjusts the perspective. Either some people are too lazy to work and save for themselves (or perhaps would prefer other people to do the work for them) or I'm lucky to earn money so quickly. Even when there was the gold glitch, I was lucky. The polls didn't work, but for the most part the sponsors' links did as did the preview windows in the shops. I still remember going there a lot to earn my gold. I'm glad the preview windows are working again, however, I haven't relied on them as much as I did.
The other thought that I wanted to marvel at was that I have 16 items to quest for 2005. Okay, make that 15. Actually, make that 14. ^^ I'm going to be in luck and purchase a December letter to get the OMFG Hat. It'll be easier that way, I think. I haven't bought a letter for a while because of the way things having been going. When I was questing for my Brown Paper Bags, I could always scrounge up something or rely on a friend to assist me. However, with the Christmas season and loans to look after, I've had to be careful of all my nickels and dimes. ^^ I looked at my finances the yesterday and it looks like I'll be good to go, so a donating I will do.
And that will make my 2005 quests a lot easier. I'll almost be able to devote a month, perhaps more depending on how swiftly I move through my quests, to each item. I haven't figured out if I should go after the least expensive ones and buy them before they go up in price or focus on the most expensive ones and buy them before they go up in price. Either way, the items will go up in price because each one is related to a donation month.
I wonder if perchance it would have been good if I had a store item on my quest list. Then I wouldn't have to worry about the price changing. In fact, I could probably get it cheaper at the Marketplace or in the Exchange Forum. The upside of donation items is that they go up in price over time. Since I plan on keeping some of the items, that would be good, because I could use them as collateral for future quests.
Again, one day I'll figure it out. For today, I have a quest to wrap up and a bank to visit. smile
