History of the Elementals
A long time ago, elemental creatures lived in harmony and fed off the land. These creatures were naturally herbivores and kept their peace. They were gifted with long lives. There were different types; earth, water, fire, and sky or wind.
Let's go further back to the beginning. In the beginning, there was only one being. The world was just one glob of matter kind of like water, but not quite. He began to form the universe, and in the work, he bred two children. From him, they came to be known as Light and Dark. The two siblings use to work together and make peace. Soon enough they came to create the four elements; Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Despite their accomplishment, the two soon came to a disagreement with each other. Now brother and sister are at war with each other. One representing good. The other representing evil. From the feud, the elementals were born; creatures raised from the magical elements themselves.
The elemental beings lived in harmony, that is, until the humans showed up. It was during the middle ages with dragons, soldiers, and horses. Despite how long we've been around, man seen the elementals as wicked creatures and soon began to slay them like they did the dragons.
They set fire to forests. They killed the elementals and other wildlife in them. What made it worse was that they sometimes used their own elementals. Ones they tamed and used as...pets. They degraded the name of the elemental beings and drove them to extinction.
They killed the adults and captured the offspring. The humans were ignorant and foolish. Not understanding the peaceful attitudes of the creatures, they began to feed them meat. Raw flesh was served to the young ones. The elementals were on able to live off of this, became sick, and perished. There were a few though that was able to live off of the meat. They had to. It was either adapt and eat, or stay the same and die. Eating the meat began to change them a bit. They started to lose their rational peaceful minds. Soon enough they started to become ruthless.
The magic users began to study them, still not understanding the herbivore in them. They used their abilities over the elements and began to harness them. This was achieved in a painful way, which caused some of the elemental's deaths. That is where the 'elementalists' gained their power, but this was not the end of the torture.
Not only did they take the power of the elementals, but they also tried to strengthen them for their own gains. They tried to increase the elemental power found in the creatures. They attempted to imbue in them the power of the other elements. This did not work out as planned.
Many of the elementals screamed out in pain. They were stressed to their limits. Mutations began to happen to them, causing them to change appearances and carry on more than one elemental state or ability. Only a few of them survived the power invested in them. The others died of from the strain or from the harsh settings they were set in. Either way it seemed dim.
The ones that survived began to act strange. Their minds were corrupted by the humans. In order to sustain themselves, they began to extract the elemental essence from their fallen brothers. The same ones that they looked towards to as defense and company, they now fed off of and sometimes killed just to strengthen them and live.
If that wasn't enough, the humans decided that their 'experiments' were too dangerous and began killing off their work. The super elementals began to be slain one by one, but there was an incident. When the cage was opened, one of them came out and attacked the handler. Many of the humans and elementalists came to stop it, but they were unsuccessful.
The elemental began to consume their flesh and absorb their elemental essence. Because of that monstrous act, he began to transform. Soon enough it took on the form of a human. It became humanoid. He had pink skin, walked on two legs, and didn't know what to do. The reason it turned human was because of the restraining 'containers' they had the elemental in. It went into hiding.
That one lone being went into hiding. Forever, he must adapt to the forever changing world. It traveled to many places. He been through 2 major world wars and seen it all. He seen all the destruction and mayhem man and demon can do.
For a long time, the elementals were thought to be extinct. They were thought to have been wiped off the face of this globe by the carelessness of humans. Those demons who control one element at a time are not true elementals. They obtained their power from the elementalists, bred with them, and aquired that power. And just a few of them, were descendants of the lone elemental himself.
