The moon hung high in the black sky. Stars glittered beautifully and the gentle and warm southern winds carressed the forest. Navarnia shivered and kept her wrap tightly around her. No matter how warm, the winds just completely went through her dainty little body and made her cold. Her large butterfly-like wings folded arouns her shoulders and an extra wind block. Navi lifted her face to the glowing moon and she sighed. She and Erik used to stargaze all the time. "I miss you Erik......" her soft and little voice floated into the air and was carried away with the wind.
He watched her intently from the next balcony over. He stayed perfectly still in the shadows, his breath just barely quieter than a pindrop. She was just so beautiful, whatever she did. His keen, amber eyes gazed upon Navarnia's long tresses of golden curls that flew with the breeze. She looked cold. He violently fought the urge to jump the gap and hold her beautiful body tightly in his arms.
Navi's long and pointed ears drooped and she sighed again. "It's no fun alone..." she whispered again. She slowly turned around and sluggishly made her way to the doors of her large bedroom.
He couldn't stand it. He just had to. "I know." his rich and smooth voice said to her. "Being alone..." Navi's head whizzed into his direction. She saw a beautiful figure, but who's it was, she did not know. "Y-You heard that?" Navi asked the figure. He stepped forward "Every word, Navi." his smooth voice answered. "Oh, Xang! I-I......" he took another step forward and leapt across the gap between the two balconies. "Xang...Y-You should go back. My mother won't stand for..." Navi backed away awkwardly. Her pale blue nightgown hung just barely above her knees and her bare shoulders were too indecent. Her large sapphire eyes reflected the moon and star shine. Her soft and heart-shaped lips were slightly parted in her worry. With much self-control, Xang looked out past her balcony, into the forest. "I had no friends when I was growing up. No one to talk to, listen to, be with...." his voice cracked ever so subtley. Navi stepped forward, "Xang, I'm...I'm sorry...." "Don't be." "What?" "Don't be sorry for me. I hate that. I'm just like you, Princess, don't be pitying me." Xang's words tightened his elegant hands into strong fists. But then they relaxed. Navi stood next to him. "I'm.....so you were watching me this whole time?" she asked him in curiosity. "Yes." "Why?" "Because I can." he bluntly stated. Navi's softly curved jaw dropped. "Because you can?" she echoed. "Yup." She was appalled at this. "Why you nasty little devil! I ought to-" she raised her hand up to slap him. He quickly grabbed her wrist and wrapped his other arm around her waist. He pulled her closer and his lips parted, then met hers. Navi tired to fight back. But this feeling of security made her muscles relax and she invited his gentle kiss. After having his satisfaction, he pulled away. "I'm falling in love with you, Princess..." he let go of her body, leapt over to his balcony and entered his bedroom. Thus was so sudden for Navi that she fell onto her knees after he shut the door. She gasped and touched her lips as she got back up. Her eyes stayed on his bedroom door, but there was nothing. She sighed, went inside and closed the door behind her.
