Chapter One: The Meeting
.....Tendal was sitting alone in his apartment. He was reading a really thick book. He sat with his legs spread and stretched across his coffee table. Tendal was wearing nearly skin tight jeans and a loose long sleeve shirt. He only had socks on his feet. Hung around his neck were his head phones, plugged into his laptop on the table beside him. It was playing al of his favorite music. His big screen T.V. was showing the football game. Tendal looked up occasionally to see if his team was winning. This was his idea of a perfect night.
.....Suddenly Tendal’s peace was broken. The doorbell rang. Tendal waited to see if it would ring again. He didn’t get visitors often. Most of the rings he got were mistakes. He went back to reading his book again. Almost instantly the bell rang again. Reluctatly, Tendal got up with a sigh. He quickly fixed his hair which went down as far as half his eyes. Speaking into the intercom he said, “I’ll be right down.”
.....Tendal quickly walked down the stairs to where the mailboxes and bells were. He saw a woman standing there. She looked about 21 years old. A year younger than he was. “You rang my bell?” He asked.
.....“I’m looking for Tendal Markus. Are you him?” She asked with an awkward grin.
.....“Yes I am.” He replied, “What can I do for you?”
.....“I’m here about you looking for a roommate to pay half the rent.” She said as she handed him a flyer.
.....“No offense to you,” He started. “But I don’t want a female roommate. I’m afraid she might try to use sex to not pay her half of the rent.”
.....“Oh, I assure you. I won’t be having sex with you to get out of paying my half.” She said rummaging through her pockets. She pulled out a checkbook and wrote three checks to Tendal for $600 each. As she handed them to him she said, “This should cover the next three months. You already paid for this month’s right?”
.....“Looks like you got your self a place to stay.” He said with a grin.
