Avatar Elitism - When how a person is treated depends on their avatar.
People usually jump to the conclusion that a person in the basic clothes is a noob/newb.
The opposite assumption is that anyone with a Halo is a great person, a wonderful contributer and whatever they say should be announced to the world in 50 foot high letters.
Basically people judge the value of the message by what the person is wearing. Try it yourself, dress up in the peasant set (Featured left) and see how things are actually different than when you're dressed all prettyful.
Go ahead, give it a try.
Now, I am completely guilty. It seems to be something built into people, the better dressed's opinion counts more.
Actually, it isn't exactly how the avatar is dressed. It is more about the items worn.
For example, which one out of the 2 avatars posted would you expect to matter more? Who would be the likely choice for a mod?
Answer honestly, since the only person you're lying to is yourself (They're internal questions, I don't need to know the answer!)
Honestly, I blame Hollywood. 100 years ago, celebraties were not actors, actors worked in theaters next to brothels. Its all out of whack.
Bottom line, don't judge a person by their avatar, or what flash items they are wearing.

But yes, I agree fully. I myself am not excluded, seeing that sometimes I go "This person cant possibly be from 03!" -checks profile- "Oh..."
Its like...when you see someone with a Golden Halo, you think "OMG -worships- PLZZZZZ GIMME STUFF", just because they donated and didnt expect something in return. Now...people EXPECT s**t in return or they get mad. What ever happened to the good ol days of doing stuff out of sheer will? None of this "Donate and get cool s**t" right in your face.
Nowadays, its a silent contest on who has more old s**t. Rather than being on Gaia for what it was originally for, its become a rat race of sorts sad . People should respect others despite what they have on their avi! Oldbies even get this snootie attitude when dealing with someone who isnt from 03 or 04, which really ticks me off neutral .
