I'm having a hard time with this one, because I'm currently in the process of planning my wedding and it's reception xd
SO I'M GONNA DESCRIBE TWO IDEAL PARTIES
My ideal wedding reception, and my ideal laid-back hangout party.
First the not-so-formal one.
First off, to have an ideal party, I've somehow gotta come into enough cash that the idea of a "budget" doesn't exist xd
Now this is where ideas just start flowing. I was thinking "hmm, we'd need a big tv" which reminded me of my days at Carthage where we'd go play DDR.
Which made me think "oh many, wouldn't it be fun to just rent out a movie theatre or something?"
We could have a big movie marathon or something, just me and my friends.
To be courteous, I'd have everyone invited RSVP with one movie of thier choice. I'd create a simple webpage with a simple form on it to let people vote for their top three choices, and then whichever ones get the most votes would be the ones we'd watch. And there'd be plenty of snacks and drinks and everything you need to have a fun day of movie watching.
The only other problem would be getting all my friends together. Most of the people I consider my friends are people I know from Gaia xp Many of which don't live in the same time zone, or even the same country. The only ones remotely close are my friend from high school Kristi, and the friends I still refer to as "Steve's friends"
And Steve of course.
But assuming they all made it, I think it'd be fun.
Now, onto the one that is actually being planned rofl
So this one's guest list is a bit different. Because in addition to friends, we've got family and family friends coming.
We're looking at a guest list of about 100-125, with probably a little less than 100 that will actually come.
Again, some Gaians are getting invites rofl but not many, only the ones I consider really close friends.
It's gonna be a Saturday evening, with dinner, dancing... and karaoke rofl We know this guy who does karaoke at this bar that we go to alot and he does karaoke and DJing so he's gonna DJ our reception. I think it'll be alot of fun. We'll have good food, followed by all the traditional wedding stuff: first dance, father-daughter mother-son, garter & bouquet toss, and then a few hours of dancing and drinking (open bar for the guests 21 and older xd )
And then once everyone has had their liquid courage, we switch to karaoke because it's just fun xd I know you don't have to be drunk to enjoy it, but for some people it helps them get up in front of people when they otherwise wouldn't xd
We're still working out the reception location: we had a place in mind, but we'd have to get outside catering, and that's NOT cheap around here... there was this place we liked, but the bid they gave us was 8k.... almost our entire budget So there's another place we'd originally been thinking of that we're gonna go look at again tomorrow and probably end up going with them. If that's the case, it'll be a really nice reception hall with nice food (we'll have to start looking at their menus and stuff) and their wedding package comes with a good bar package xd
So those are my ideal parties rofl
