Two days later, someone knocked at my door. I opened the door to a silver-haired vixen with dark purple eyes. “You Sokein?” she asked. “Yes I am, are you my trainer?” She did not say anything but “Follow me” as she turned away from my door and walked towards the courtyard. I threw on my tunic, and followed her. Suddenly, she stopped and turned to me. “We are going to have a test today. I am going to give these guards the order to fight you with all they have. This will be a fight for your life, fail and you die. Have no regrets if you kill them, they are willing to die for our purpose.” I was shocked by these words, but before I could respond, she was gone and the guards began to rush me. For the beginning of the fight, I was on the defensive, gathering my energy while dodging their attacks. When I felt I had enough, I began the offense. One of them thrust a spear at me, which I grabbed below the point, and spun him around and flung him into wall. Suddenly, I felt a pain. One of them had stabbed me in the back with a sword. Suddenly, I felt that presence inside of me again. The only difference was, it was much stronger than it was before. The guard still had his hand on the blade, when my energy spiked. It shot the blade out of my back, propelling him across the courtyard. He hit the stone wall and left a great impact. The others backed off, as my rage grew more intense. I let out a bloodthirsty howl, and moved to the nearest guard in the blink of an eye. I grabbed him by the back of the head and slammed his face into the floor. Suddenly I was behind the next guard, and delivered a swift kick the back of his right leg, crippling him. I put my foot on the back of his neck, and catapulted my self straight into the next guard. I landed on him, fist first into his skull, then, pushing off I delivered a round house to the crippled guard and shattered his ribs and back. Now, there was only one guard left. He was shaking with terror, and that put a grin on my face. I walked slowly to him, and stopped right in front of him. He looked into my eyes, and tried to scream, but I grabbed him by the throat and lifted him off the ground. Just as I was about to crush him, the rage left my body, and I dropped him. He crawled away, and my trainer jumped down from the walls. “Very good, Sokein. But the historian was right, you do need to learn to control yourself.” I fell to my knees and spat up blood. She walked over to me and checked me for wounds. The stab wound had healed and was nothing more than a scar. She looked stunned, and after she gathered her thoughts she said in a low voice. “I think you may have earned the Glove of Reiatsu. That is the ultimate weapon for unarmed spiritual combat.” I looked her in the eyes, and said “Well that’s nice, but how about you tell me your name already? I think I have earned it.” She chuckled a bit, and said “My name is Keira.” I smiled a little, and collapsed.
When I awoke the next morning, I was in the medical center with a bandage over my stab wound. I looked around and saw Keira walking towards me. “So you finally woke up eh? Well, I talked to the High Council, and they believe that you can wield the glove. You will report to my quarters in an hour. Get your gear and come” and with that, she was gone. I got up, found my gear, and found her quarters. I walked in and saw her sitting at the table. In front of her lay a small box. She instructed me to sit and I obeyed. “In this box are two weapons of great power. These were the gloves used by the great hero that destroyed the dragon so long ago.” She slid the box over to me and said to open it. As I did, all I saw were a pair of metal gauntlets with four holes on the top of each glove. “Those slots are for the eight gems of power. They are Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, Ice, Light, Dark, and Energy. Your next assignment is to go on quests to collect these gems. It was rumored that when you collect all eight, two new slots will open up. Those are for the fabled gems of Life and Death.” As I put the gloves on, the gem of Earth appeared in the glove. “Why is this here already? I have not done anything.” She nodded and replied “When you passed my test yesterday, that was to earn your Earth gem. If you failed, you would not have been awarded the gloves and so I did not see a need to tell you.” Still surprised, I looked to her and said “Keira, how do I earn the other seven gems?” She responded in an annoyed tone “I already told you. To get the missions for the gems, you must talk to the High Council and they will instruct you on the location of the next gem. Your next gem will be that of The Eternal Flame. But, know that even with this responsibility, I will still train you on controlling yourself and new techniques.” I nodded and stood up. As I walked away, I knew that this was my destiny, that the legend I had been told was not false. I would not fail my friends, my trainer, and the Kingdom. I grinned as I went to sleep that night, and knew that Ryuka will be proud of what I have become.
