He rode along this bleak and desecrated path, the rain fell upon them like needles from the sky. The forest to which his adventure would truly start was getting closer by his eyes, as it came closer the more uncomfortable he felt. His companion rode with confidence and power, he could barely keep up with her persistence to reach the entrance. Suddenly she began to slow down, he followed suit looking back at the wet grass lining the fresh mud of the path. She spoke as she looked up at the sky, “We will soon be met by the veil of night, we’d best set up camp for the night before reaching the forest.” She smiled at him making him feel weary and unsure of his equality with her. He nodded nervously stepping down off of his horse he unloaded their supplies, they set up a medium sized tent of which they would need to sleep in together.

He sat up in his sleeping bag eating a small piece of bread he had stored; he suddenly noticed she was staring at him through the dim light of their lantern. She moved closer to him resting her head on his shoulder, she ran a finger down his thigh. “Do you fear your desires? Fear what you want, or what it might do to get what you want?” He quivered trying to pull himself away discreetly. “I… I do not desire anything more then the truth…” His words were unsure and wavered nervously. Her touch was like a drug, he felt so enveloped in her being, and lust began to pool in his stomach making him feel more uncomfortable. He did want her, and he knew it but he would not show weakness to her advances. She rose up her head nestling it in his neck biting and kissing softly. He shuddered with pleasure; he could feel himself giving into her. He took a quick gasp of air as she laid a hand upon his cheek whispering into his ear. “Do you desire me young lord?” He thought for a moment of his response, for this was not any easy choice. As he opened his mouth to be totally taken by her seduction the tent was ripped from the ground like a weed. Jareth sat prone next to his companion, now shocked and angered as two figures came into vision.

He looked over the figures. The first one to catch his eye was a large built man, his hair was contained and well groomed, his face was stern and his eyes burned with power, and his body emanated the aura of iron as the smell of it surrounded him. The other was a small meeker looking girl; her hair was long, blond, and strait as smelted gold, her eyes awkward and unsure although they burned fiery red, she shook as the rain patted down on her head. His companion quickly reacted to their intrusion with sharp words. “Why have you followed me here Matthew? Should you not be back in your fortress hiding from the world?” He scoffed at her grabbing Jareth with his large hand and lifting him to his feet. “The boy is rightfully ours, he was born from the seed of a devil and will not be kept in the hands of a demon!” His companion lashed out at Matthew with, now presented, claws extending from each finger. They both rolled in the mud struggling for dominance, but soon it was clear that Matthew had pinned her with his massive body. The other girl stood meekly mumbling to herself periodically, and giggling. Matthew yelled to the girl, “Ariel, take the boy and enter the forest! Block it so that this succubus may not follow!” The girl nodded nervously grabbing Jareth by the arm and tugging him away towards the entrance of the forest. It did not take long for them to arrive, as she led him in underneath the cover of the dark trees. She let go of him and mumbled some undecipherable babble as a giant wall of black stone sprung from the ground behind them enclosing the forest entirely. She snapped as a small flame lit upon her hand illuminating the darkness, she smiled.

He stood confused and unable to discern his current situation; the man back there had said he was born of a devil’s seed. This thought, although illuminating to him, disturbed his thoughts in a way most unpleasant. He began to pace back and forth in the shadowy illumination his thoughts were well occupied. Questions popped into his mind like flowers during the spring, he was overwhelmed. The girl, who the man had called Ariel, stood waving her hand around amused by the dancing flames that did not seem to harm her. He stopped pacing and looked sternly at the girl, he spoke quickly. “What is going on?” He waved his hands in the air for emphasis of his plight. “You are important to the lords… I have to… Bring you back safely, for that is my mission to the lord of hellfire…” Her words were nervous and half-hearted; she obviously was not comfortable as she looked upon him jolting her eyes frantically. It was then that he noticed that her left arm was wrapped in a tattered cloth covered in ancient runes. Through the rips he could see that underneath it was nothing more then bare bone, burnt and blackened. He sighed and looked into the long dark path that lies ahead of them. He did not trust this girl; obviously his last companion had tried to betray him as well. He would watch her carefully as they went on, but at least things in his mind were beginning to come to light. He began to walk away from her into the darkness, uncaring of whether or not she would follow. As he suspected she made an awkward noise and sped up to catch up with him, she asked in a high pitched tone. “Want to play a game to pass the time?” He groaned for at that moment he knew this would be a very long walk.
