Rock Bottom
Falling,
Deeper and deeper,
Tumbling through the dead space...
Each second spent in anticipation.
With hopeless limbs,
Reaching out for an edge to grip,
Bones snap and my heart breaks yet again.
Will no one catch me?
Curling back,
Saving myself from more pain,
I wonder what waits below?
Where is the bottom?
In the moment I find it
There is, at first, clarity.
A brief moment
Where I realize...
After my back has hit the ground,
My eyes open wide,
The air becomes still,
And it all seems to stop...
I see how far I have fallen.
And the faces...
The faces of those who just stood by...
WATCHED.
The ground beneath me is cold...
Hard and unfriendly.
Sitting up I get a chill,
And the world seems to swim around me.
Head bloodied,
Body covered in the crimson red,
I am somewhat... Proud?
Proud that through all of that... my head has remained unbowed.
I have everything.
I have control.
Of me...
Of my soul.
But in retrospect,
I have nothing.
Just the pain I feel...
And the time that I have lost.
With blurry vision,
Tear stained cheeks,
And blood-matted hair,
I glance around...
Who is there?
If anyone,
who has jumped in after me?
Come to my rescue?
Among the few,
I hope you are there.
I hope I can still see you.
Touch you/
That when, with weak arms,
I stretch my hand up,
You and the one to hold it,
To pull me up.
