TEACHINGS
Introduction
My kind have waited for our turn for millions of years. It is the destiny of the Earth to pass between the possession of the surviving races.
There are five gods each were responsible for creating their own race. Each one throat long and hard about whom they should create. Marcus who was the king of the gods was the first to come to his decision so with but the snap of his fingers he crated the werewolves. Agape was next who was beautiful and proud created the dragons. Horos who was distant and shy created the giants. Keres who saw death crated the humans. Podarge who was always fleetly footed created the vampires.
The races were always fight over territory. So one day the gods came down to subtle their beloved children’s quarrels. But not all the races enjoyed the gods interfering so they tried to rebel. The gods needless to say were out raged by their children’s rebelling and punished them according to their sins.
The giants who were the worst offenders for they lead their brother races were banished never to roam the Earth again. The dragons who spread the lies and accused the gods of not being worthy of their power were striped of their most valuable possession... their intelligence. From then on they would only be stupid animals which they werewolves use as mere pack animals though some of us (myself included) still tell of their old selves but that is another tale. The vampires who gathered troops and ran messages were imprisoned to the night.
But not all the races rebelled two the werewolves and the humans fought against their brothers. So they were spared but fearing a future rebelling the gods slightly reduced werewolves power only allowing them full power on the full moon.
Humans who although mortal would live for up to threehundered years had their lives drastically shortened. This is why humans have forgotten their ancestory. This is also why humans have forgotten the terms at which the gods let us remain together.
The first rule was that the other races can not interfere with the dominant race at that time unless it is time for the races to switch in which case humans have the option of pledging themselves to another race. The second rule was that no races may conceive with another race. Each race is to rule for no more or less then three million years (by the gods count).
Chapter 1
With the impending close to humanities chapter, the few who are aware have pledged themselves to joining our ranks. They seek to be what some of us were born as. While performing my other duties, I still had to check the ranks to see which of them were worthy. The fresh meat always comes in expectant but not just anyone maybe allowed into our ranks. The ages vary, the degrees of physical being are also different, and of course the worth of their soul. As I would be charged with indoctrinating them with the ways of my clan, I had to ensure that only the best and most adaptable were selected for the process. One thing that I loathe about new comers is all the myths they have due to the humans’ misunderstanding of our kind. Believing that we only transform during a full moon is the most prevalent. Some of the myths are just stupid silver kills us. It is rather pathetic.
I stood before a group of such a group, taking in the lot of them to see if anything were redeemable in the flock. They all stood like soldiers. The first in the line was older and less than physically capable. The second was a moderately aged female who seemed a bit more concerned with the preservation of her own beauty than the ways of my people. Soon the third and fourth passed, none of which were to my liking. It is not uncommon for me to look at fifty to a hundred newcomers and reject them all. I was fortunate in this case to only stop at the tenth. She was at a height of five nine and had a healthy body, with bright alert eyes… Her expression told of a eagerness and sincere effort, which was truly all I needed. And like picking a puppy from the pound, she was singled out to be taken along while the others were lead away. The other trainers could pick through the scraps, I had found my diamond in the rough. Her name was Jasmine.
After a quick briefing, I lead her to my transportation and drove in silence until we arrived at the dock. Having always prized seclusion, I had bought a simple one story house in the middle of a sea on an island. I had lived here alone for the greater portion of my existence with the exception of Tyler. He's five ten long black hair fairly pale skin and while he loved alcohol, he was generally a good guy and had been one of my closest allies. Even from the sea rowing over, I could see him standing in his usual worn trench coat wobbling under the weight of the bottle in his hand he also has a small problem when he was young he had trouble controlling his transformations so he was stuck with a permanent tail. He didn't call out to me, nor did the new recruit. The boat ride was also done in silence. It was not that I was not glancing at her looking for questions or looking to make small talk. No this girl was different, completely silence, which was all the better for me.
As we came up to the dock, Tyler threw me the rope to tie the boat down. Using some agility, I managed to cross the distance to tie and anchor the boat to the shore. I shuffled back to the boat with the intention of helping the newcomer, only to find Tyler had already trying to sweet talk her. He had gotten her up on the dock, bowing, kissing her hand, and letting his tale shake like a puppy in heat. I remembered now exactly why I didn't usually take on female students.
I stood there a moment thinking that she might slap him but she just stood there with a confused look on her face. Unable to bear the flirtations any longer, I hit him over the head into the water with a loud thud.
"Can you not tell she has no idea what the ******** is going on? What have I told you about getting drunk when I bring new students home?" I snarled.
As he pulled himself back onto the dock, he stammered idly, "I didn't do it against her will, and I'm not drunk."
"Yes because she totally asked you to start humping her leg. I could smell you before we got halfway here!"
He didn't reply, instead he just took all the luggage and the supplies I had gathered while on the mainland. After a moment, he finally forced himself onto unsteady feet and began moving them in the humvee. It was only once I was sure he’d stay focused that I escorted Jasmine into the back and took my place in the passengers seat.
Tyler got in the driver seat and for the first time that night Jasmine spoke. "Should he really be driving drunk?" The fact that she was serious made it impossible for me to stop laughing and Tyler just sat there looking like he was trying really had not to do the same.
"Why do you think the cops will pull him over?" I said after collecting myself.
“But couldn't he kill someone?"
To this Tyler looked back at her and replied " Listen lady, the only people on this island are you, me, and Jake over there."
I nodded my head in agreement and then he started the engine with a fierce roar before pushing into the gas with a vengeance. From the docks to the house is about a five minute drive, but Tyler quickly cut that down to about a minute. Jasmine could only hang onto the side of the vehicle, pushing for breaks that weren’t there as the vehicle tossed us about madly.
The path was familiar to me, and Tyler usually had no issue navigating it in spite of his inebriated state. As expected, the vehicle jolted to a stop just a few inches away from the house itself. If anything, it was a good way to see how the new one reacted to fear.
I got out of the humvee and opened the door for her. Finding that while her eyes were wide and the smell of adrenaline was on her, she seemed relatively calm for such a bumpy ride. Pleased, I led her to the door. Her reward was a simple choice between a top floor or bottom floor, a modest reward for her ability to handle Tyler’s driving.
“I’m ok with anything…”
I chose for her, mainly for my own sanity, the uppermost room. While it was a bit troubling to get to, it did provide a nice view and should Tyler get out of hand, it would be the easiest spot to guard and keep her. While grabbing a few of her things, I lead her up, explaining the layout of the house while we simply went through the front door and up the stairs to our goal.
"There are only five bedrooms in the entire house or you could sleep outside. Inside the house we have one top floor, one on the main, and two on the bottom. This house is really only for guests and bad weather. Tyler and I sleep outside, usually on separate ends of the island. I personally recommend a room at the top because it’s harder for Tyler to climb.” I watched her brow crinkle with a bit of sincere confusion and revulsion. "You really need not worry about Tyler; he'll leave you alone."
With that assurance I left her think about her new life.
As expected Tyler was sitting on the bottom steps holding what appeared to be my everclear. I got to the point where my feet were even with his head a kicked out swiftly hitting him right in the crook of his neck.
"AHH! What the hell man!"
"I thought I told you to lay off my everclear."
"How do you know it's yours!"
"Because I had to pick some up for you so if it was yours it would still be warm dumbass."
"You still didn't have to kick me."
"I'll tell you what if you stay away from the house all to night I'll by you nine bottles of everclear all for yourself. Deal?"
From there I escorted Tyler out and watched until he was far enough away that I could barely smell him. After he left I decided it was about time to pick where I was going to sleep that night.
I ended up sleeping in a tree not ten feet from the window of the top most room. It had been a long day and if it was any clue as to what would happen in the days to come then it will be interesting.
Chapter 2
Screaming, crying, burning, bleeding, darkness. I finally wakeup I'm no longer in the tree but on the ground the tree lies fallen next to me.
It's dark yet behind the clouds the hint of the sun shines through and I can smell the rain in the distance. I hear the click of a switch and as I look up I see Jasmines light is on. After a few seconds she opens her window and looks down at me and I can smell fear on her.
"I heard screaming. Is everything okay?"
After a moment of silence I reply "Yeah, I need to go get Tyler to come to the house before the storm hits us though."
"what storm?" And to that I could only smile.
As I walked away I began to transform. I could feel as my muscles strengthen and bones elongate. It truly is a feeling that no one can every really get accustomed to.
Finally I'm fully transformed with coal black hair completely covering my body. My transformed nose quickly picks up Tyler's sent all the way on the other side of the island.
I could smell the storm getting closer so in order to pick up I clawed up a tree and from there began jumping using my wolfen legs to propel myself onto other trees.
Even using my abilities it still took some time because of the erratic winds from the storm I more than once lost his sent. When I finally got there I took a quick second to look around and that’s when I noticed that playing with his tail while he slept was a small dragon kit.
It is not unusual for wild dragons to stop on the island they were smart enough to realize that no one here would hurt them. That and the fact that I purposely choose this island because it is in the middle of their natural migration. So it was not so much the sight of it that surprised me but the fact that it was near Tyler. Any animal usually stays away from him because of his tail which gives off a smell that animals take as a threat.
I transformed and jumped down grabbing the attention of the young kit and after I landed he ran over and let out a small amused puff of fire into the air. I got a good look at its size now and judged it as a male probably no more then half a year old.
The kit soon got bored of me and went back to Tyler. The kit pounced on his tail with a soft thud. He still didn't wake but in his sleep he flinched knowing him probably remembering a past memory. Tyler and I don't share a past but while they are pretty damn close his is by far the better. We met in school he was the relaxed average student while I was the quit guy who half the people thought was a killer. Our personalities differ as well he is the ever optimist I the self hateful pessimist.
The dragon kit had all but forgotten me by the time I heard the first drum of thunder assault the sky. I had wasted enough time so I kicked Tyler square in the chest. He awoke with a grunt no doubt I had woken him up in the middle of when of his "puppy dream".
"that seamed unneeded." He mumbled "I was awake you know."
I picked up the dragon kit which was sitting at my feet. "so you were letting this little one use your tail like a chew toy?"
"What!" he said inspecting his bite mark ridden tail.
"ha well you sure were awake now lets get going there's a storm on it's way."
"what no there isn't. I would have noticed it." Just as he said this a bolt of lightning pierced the sky over head.
"oh."
"Damn strait oh."
We both started running him slowly changing, me easily keeping up with out needing to. I could of out ran him even in my human form but then again even for a werewolf I am unusually fast. As we are running I could hear the snapping of branches behind us. I turned and in the corner of my eye I could see the young kit flying/running after us. It’s eyes clearly focused on Tyler’s tail.
