"You are willing to throw away a perfectly good ship, but you would refuse to part with a piece o' crap necklace? They sure did send a strange one," the captain spectisised.
The new passenger shrugged. "The ship was meaningless. There were no memoried, and no value.It had lost its use, whereas this necklace is still worth somethin', even if no one else sees that. It holds memories, loves, losses and deaths. It holds more memory and use than that ship would ever have known. So, I care about it."
The captain paused a moment, pondering, then shrugged the whole concept aside. "Ain't you got a job to do?"
"Yes sir. A briefing would be helpful though. You haven't even shown me what I'm to do yet." She laughed softly and brightly.
