oh my gosh. steampunk is sooo cool :O
y'know how some people go through this lolita phase? me=steampunk phase.
i think it started with the Hungry City chronicles. amazing books. go read them now.
but i sort of accquired this taste for a neo-victorian era where it's way in the future, but everything still runs on steam...
once i found a label for it, of course, it sort of lessened the experience for me, but even the label sounds cool.
"steampunk"
let's just let that sink in for a moment there.
they have clothes for the genre too. stuff like this:
or this
basically, what i've gathered is that fashion-wise you're supposed to be from the neo-victorian era - either dirt-brown upper class clothing or aviator/engineer style clothing is common. i think. and the TM seems to be the only really steampunk-y object on gaia :'[ just do a google image search for it, you'll see what I mean.
and, uh... yeah. :/
speaking of neo-victorianism.
last night i found my family 5/6 of the way through the Howl's Moving Castle movie - without me! and these are the parents who used to buy me weird things just because they thought i liked anything with "anime" or "manga" on it.
they bought some darn strange stuff, too. without ever looking at it, i think, because there's no other way they'd have let twelve-year-old Sarah look at such... oddities. <--euphemisms. all of them.
