Adventure in the Land of Monsters Part 18&19
Part 18

“As soon as this is over I promise you that all your pain will go away.” Sandina pushed herself away from Keto and forced herself to stand.
“I already know that you plan to turn me as soon as I do what you vamps want. Give me a good reason I shouldn’t just do this…” Sandina found a knife on the floor and went to plunge it into her chest. Keto jumped up and stopped her hand.
“You are not going to die. I refuse to let you die.” Keto took the knife from Sandina’s hand. “You’re the most stubborn human I’ve ever met. Why would you rather die than serve me?”
“Because I have people I care for. And if I have to die so they may live, so be it.” Sandina thought of Chikaru and Kitko.
“I’ll transform them as well. Then you can all be together. And you will be mine.” Sandina’s eyes turned solid white and she began to transform again. “What’s happening?” Sandina’s wounds began to disappear. “Amazing, her body is healing at an enormous rate.” Keto thought.
“Get your hands off of me.” Sandina punched Keto across his face and he tumbled across the marble floor. “If you dare harm one hair on their head I’ll kill you.” Sandina jumped into the air. Keto rolled away and Sandina kicked the ground. The marble floor broke in half; from one end of the room to the other.
“Where did this strength come from?” Keto wondered. “Hm… she looks a lot like uncle Von.” Sandina charged towards Keto and he barley dodged her attack. Sandina yanked her fist out of the wall. Count Diago furiously stomped into the room.
“WHAT IS GOING ON IN HERE?!” Count Diago shouted. Keto pointed to Sandina and Count Diago stood in shock. “Well… that answers one question. Keto, get up.” Keto stood up and jumped over to his father. “How did she transform?”
“I do not know. She went to kill herself with a knife on the floor. I stopped her. We argued a bit. And then her eyes turned white and she turned that…” Keto explained. He and Count Diago dodged a blast of lightning.
“Is it me or does she look like a girl form of Von?” Count Diago asked.
“That’s what I thought.” Keto said dodging another blast of lightning.
“I’ll have to take care of this myself.” Count Diago said stepping in front of Keto.
“Strife… could you fly faster? We want to get there before they use Sandina’s power.” Chikaru said.
“Calm yourself human. We have much time on our hands. Besides we’re almost halfway to the drop-off point. I’m sure you can survive for a while longer.” Strife said.
“This is still so cool, to fly like this. I can see the perks of being a demon that can fly.” Kitko said.
“True.” Chikaru chuckled. A woman’s scream turned their gaze below.
“HELP ME! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!” the woman cried out. Werewolves were chasing her and were catching up.
“Strife! We got to go down there!” Chikaru said.
“I can’t. If I try landing in the cursed forest I’ll never be able to spread my wings and fly out.” Strife said.
“Then we’ll go the rest of the way on our own.” Kitko said jumping off of Strife’s back. “Thanks for the ride. We’ll catch ya later.”
“Yeah. Thanks Strife.” Chikaru said jumping down after Kitko.
“Be careful you two.” Strife flew off back towards the city. The woman fell to the ground. She was holding a baby wrapped in brown rags. She screamed in fear as one of the werewolves leapt for her. Chikaru jumped down on one of the werewolves and Kitko jumped in front of the woman and shot the werewolf with a sticky bomb. The werewolf stuck to the branches above and howled with anger as it tried to break free.
“Oh how wonderful. More humans for us to devour.” a werewolf barked.
“You werewolves have three seconds to get the heck out of here or you will die by my blade.” Chikaru said.
“How dare you human!” The werewolves charged in a furry of attacks. Chikaru smirked and sliced them with ease. The werewolves lied dead on the ground.
“Bummer… that was almost too easy.” Chikaru said sheathing her sword.
“Are you alright?” Kitko asked helping the woman to her feet.
“Demon Huntresses, thank you so very much.” the woman said bowing. “We were going to be goners if you didn’t show up.”
“It was no problem. It’s kinda sad that they were weak werewolves though.” Chikaru said looking around the forest. “Nice shot with the sticky bomb Kitko. Will it be able to get down?”
“In the next downpour it should be able to get down.” Kitko said.
“Let me down! Let me down so I can kill you!” the werewolf growled.
“Nah. I think I’ll leave you up there. You’ve already wasted too much of our time.” Kitko said. “Do you want to get moving Chikaru?”
“Yeah. We have to head northwest right?”
“Yeap.” Kitko replied. Kitko and Chikaru started to walk away when the woman stopped them.
“Please… could I ask you demon huntresses a favor? Could you please get my baby and I back home to my village. It is not far from here, but the way there is dangerous.”
“We might was well. It is part of our job.” Kitko said.
“I have no problem with it, but we have to move quickly.” Chikaru said. “Here, get on my back.” Chikaru lifted the woman onto her back and she and Kitko raced through the trees.
“I have to wonder, what are you doing out here anyway?” Kitko asked.
“I had to get some healing herbs for my baby. She got ill and we had to get the medicine from the forest. I had no other choice. If I didn’t get them into her when I did she would have died. Sadly while I was picking the herbs the werewolves attacked. It felt like I was running forever then you came.” the woman said.
“Hey, I can see the smoke from here.” Chikaru said.
“That’s strange. There is never that much smoke rising form the village.” the woman said.
“Really? We better hurry then.” Kitko said. They stopped at the edge of the village. The entire village was on fire and the people were being chased by human bandits. “I should’ve known. It’s a bunch of bandits.”
“Stay here behind this tree.” Chikaru said hiding the woman in the crush. “We’ll take care of this.”
“Chikaru. You thinking what I’m thinking? Look at the symbols on their backs and arms. They are defiantly his men…”
“That jerk has been on the rampage lately.” Chikaru said. “Let’s get these guys out of here.”
Kitko ate some ice gum and froze the bandits’ feet to the ground. “How about you bandits chill out.” Kitko blew ice all around the village putting out the fires. Chikaru attacked all the bandits that got free from the ice. The bandits fled on their horses back into the forest. “Did you seem him Chikaru?”
“Nope, I didn’t see that half demon at all.” Chikaru said wiping the blood from her blade. The people raced towards the girls shouting in joy.
“Chikaru, you think these people are grateful?” Kitko said uneasily as the villagers bowed.
“No kidding. Please people, do not bow down. We were just doing our jobs.” Chikaru said waving for the people to stand.
“Please girls, tell us your names.” one man said.
“Well I’m Kitko, and this is Chikaru.” Kitko said rubbing her head.
“Thank you Kitko and Chikaru.” the people shouted.
“Kitko, we should get going, we have to get to the castle.” Chikaru whispered.
“We can’t just leave them defenseless Chikaru.” Kitko whispered.
“I know, what do we do?” Chikaru whispered.
“Good people of the village. Do you know the way to Count Diago’s castle?” Kitko asked. The people gasped and backed up. “What did I say?”
“Only the foolish go there.” an old monk said stepping through the crowd. “It is very dangerous and anyone who goes never comes back.”

Part 19

“That’s a chance we’re going to take. So do you know which way it is?” Chikaru asked.
“Yes.” The old monk pointed with his staff to the mountains. “Over that mountain range you will find Count Diago’s castle. It is a dangerous journey through bandit valley and across the demonic plains. A treacherous journey.”
“Thanks, Kitko, you have the most experience dealing with villagers and having the ability to get them to work together. You’re a pretty good fighter too so you should stay here while I go after Sandina.” Chikaru said turning towards the mountains.
“Sure Chikaru, but you have to promise me that you will be back in one piece and safe.” Kitko said grabbing Chikaru’s right shoulder.
“I will. I’ll bring Sandina back and we’ll swing by here to help you out. See ya later!” Chikaru raced off into the forest.
“Good luck Chikaru!” Kitko shouted as she waved good-bye. Kitko turned to the villagers. “I’m staying here to help and protect you people. Let’s get to work putting out the little fires.” Kitko said clapping her hands together.
“Sandina please hold on a little while longer. I won’t stop till I rescued you.” Chikaru said racing up the mountain side.
“Looks like we have a blonde brat coming up our way.” one bandit whispered to the other.
“This will be easy pickings. Hey wait. Isn’t that the brat that just chased our other comrades out of the village below?”
“Yes it is. Our boss will be happy to hear that she dead after what she did to us.”
“Then let’s get her.”
“It’ll take more than jus the two of us men though. After seeing her swordsmanship skills we better get some of our other comrades. It will take her a while to go through this rocky valley. We’ll attack here once she reaches the center of it.” The two men raced off to get more of their comrades to capture Chikaru.
“I do not like the feeling of this place. It reeks of blood and corpses.” Chikaru said covering her nose with her sleeve. “This must be torture for a werewolf since their sense of smell is so much stronger than my own.” Chikaru heard the rattling of armor and sheathes. All around here were bandits on the cliff sides. “This just keeps getting better and better.”
“Give up little girl! You cannot beat us all!” a bandit shouted.
“Aren’t you the men I chased out of the village an hour ago?” Chikaru asked with a smirk.
“You had the surprise on your side that time brat, but you will not be able to defeat us now!” another bandit shouted.
“I wouldn’t even call you guys a threat. I mean, I could beat you without a problem with my sword. Your skills are terrible.” Chikaru said shrugging.
“We’ll see who the weakling is when you’re begging for your pitiful life!” a bandit said charging towards Chikaru.
“Stupid bandit.” Chikaru spun around and kicked the bandit into the air and then spun around again kicking him up to the other bandits. “And that was without a single drop of Gatorade.”
“How dare you!” a few bandits roared in anger.
“Halt!” The bandits froze in fear and looked upon the ledge above them. “Why are you men doing an attack without orders from me!?”
“Well if it isn’t Chimaru.”
“Chikaru. Long time no see. I was wondering when my little girl would come to home.”
“Hold it. That’s the boss’s daughter?!” one bandit said in shock.
“Well, she does have his eyes.” one bandit whispered. “She must’ve gotten the human look from her mortal mother.”
“Chimaru, I didn’t come here to talk! Call you men out of my way. You know I will not hold back against them.” Chikaru shouted.
Chimaru waved his hand and his men relaxed. “What brings you this far back anyway Chikaru? I thought you wouldn’t come back because you found out that you were part werewolf.”
“So 25% of my blood is werewolf. I slay those things now.”
“You slay your own blood and you still are so ignorant to the true power of being a werewolf. Count Diago made a promise to me that he would turn me into a full werewolf if I made sure that I stopped every human that came towards his castle. Sadly that last batch flew on a phoenix and got over us.”
“Out of my way Chimaru! I won’t back down against you either! I don’t care if you’re my father or not. I will kill you like I would any werewolf!”
“Sorry Chikaru, but I cannot let you pass. Not when Count Diago is so close to getting his way.”
“You stupid man! Do you have any idea what he plans to do?!” Chikaru shouted.
“That weird girl he captured has amazing power. He plans on using her power to break down ever human barrier and then the land will once again belong to the monsters! We will be unstoppable! My men already can’t wait to turn into monsters themselves!”
“You idiot!” Chikaru shouted.
“Men, capture her alive!” Chimaru howled. The men threw rope nets down at Chikaru. Chikaru wiped out her sword and sliced them to pieces. “You guys aren’t that smart. Use the real nets.” The men turned around and brought out iron nets. Before Chikaru could take a swig of her spitfire she got entangled in the nets. When she fell to the ground her sword slid away from her. Chimaru jumped down and stopped the spinning sword with his foot.
“LET ME OUTTA THIS!” Chikaru shouted as she struggled to get free.
“You’re not going anywhere.” Chimaru said taking away her weapons. “You’ll stay in our cell and wait there until the rest of the werewolves come to transform us all. Then you will truly appreciate what I’m doing for you. You’re mine!” Chimaru laughed.
