Adventure in the Land of Monsters Part 16&17
Part 16

"Let me go you sick vamp!" Nichu threw Sandina through the wooden balcony doors and she crashed into the wall by the door. "What the heck is this place? The dungeon looked better." Whips, spike clubs, swords hung on the sleek grey walls. The heavy golithic style complimented the foul odor of rotting corps and blood. Sandina covered her nose with both hands. The smell was intoxicating.
"I'd thought you'd enjoy the smell. I use only human corps and their blood to paint my walls. In fact... I have to finish up something before I start with you." Nichu pulled back the lid on the giant coffin and there was Kana out cold. Her body was in a coffin filled to the brim with blood. "I've been marinating her for the past few hours. She should be ready for eating now." Sandina saw Kana's blood spattered face and she attacked Nichu in a rage of furry. Lightning sparked all around her fists as she swung her attacks at Nichu. Nichu barely dodged, but kept calm the entire time. He evilly smirked when he saw her rage.
"I'll destroy you murderer!" Sandina shouted as her lightning fist struck Nichu's gut.
"You are not going to be able to kill me this way." Nichu said flipping over Sandina and slamming her into the floor. He stood on her back and crossed his arms. "You know, if you really wanted to have fun now I could always let my dinner marinate a little longer."
"You filthy jerk!" Sandina spun around and lightning soared around her body. Her yellow eyes turn solid white. Fangs grew out of her mouth and claws grew on her hands. Nichu watched and was in awe. "I'm gonna kill you!" Sandina's voice was rough and dark.
"What is this? How can a human do this?" Nichu asked blocking the light from his eyes. Sandina slashed at Nichu and he couldn't dodge. His blood splattered on her clothes. She sliced down his arms and legs, across his stomach and along his back. Nichu fretfully turned into a bat and flew off out the window.
“You’re not getting away that easily.” Sandina said running to the balcony. Nichu flew down the wall into the lower pillars and tumbled into the ball room. “Dang, I’ll have to let him go. I have to get Kana out.” Sandina pushed back the lid with one hand and pulled Kana out of the coffin full of blood. “Sensei Kana. Please, say something.” Sandina said lightly shaking her teacher. “Please, say anything.”
Kana opened her eyes. “AH! Get away from me you vampire!”
“Vampire? What are you talking about?” Sandina asked.
Kana sat up in shock. “Sandina? Is that you?”
“Of course it’s me. Who did you think I was?”
“You look like a vampire.”
“What?” Sandina turned and looked into the mirror. She saw her eyes, teeth, hands and ears had changed. “What the heck happened to me!?! I swear I wasn’t like this earlier.”
“It appears that you have been bitten.”
“No way Kana Sensei. They needed me to be human otherwise my powers wouldn’t work.” Kana sighed. “Why would this happen to me?” Sandina felt her ears and looked at her claws. “This is totally weird. I wonder what happened to do this to me. I just remember a huge blast of lightning from my body and then watching Nichu fly out the window. We’ll worry about this later I guess. Kana Sensei, we have got to leave now. Let’s go.” Sandina kicked the door open and she and Kana raced down the spiraling stairway.
“Father! FATHER!” Nichu shouted as he turned into his beat up vampire form.
“Nichu? What happened to you? You look like a werewolf attacked you.”
“Father. That human isn’t human! She had this weird energy coming out of her and then she completely transformed! She nearly killed me! She might be coming this way.”
“Little Nichu is sure shaken up by some human.” Keto chuckled.
“That was no human I saw! I don’t know what she is but she’s defiantly not human!” Nichu shouted.
“Come now son, you are making a scene. Come with me, all three of you.” Count Diago said opening a door. Keto, Candy and Nichu followed Count Diago into the room and Count Diago shut the door. “Is the girl still locked up in your room Nichu?”
“Yes father, but I do not know how long it’s going to be until she gets out of there.” Nichu said sitting on a high-back leather chair.
“I think that Nichu just lost control of the human like I did and is too ashamed to admit it.” Keto said flopping down on the couch.
“Shut it you brat! I know what I saw!” Nichu hissed.
“Both of you be quiet. It’s obvious that neither of you can handle a simple human. I will do this myself.” Count Diago walked towards the door.
“Father, why don’t you let me handle it? No use for you to miss your obligation to the guests here.” Candy said.
“True. Candy, you go ahead and see what the commotion is all about and report it back to me at once.” Count Diago said.
“Yes sir.” Candy walked out the door and shut it behind her.
“As for you two I want you both to stay here until your sister and I return.” Count Diago opened the door and shut it behind him.
“What is your plan Sandina?” Kana asked.
“I don’t have a full plan yet. But first thing we need to do is get out of this stupid tower and run like crazy for the nearest exit. That’s all I got right now.”
“Simple minded, but effective.” Kana said. Candy opened the door and jumped back when she saw Sandina before her. “Get behind me kid. I’ll take down this grunt.”
“Um... sensei… I don’t think you…”
“Quiet. I got this.” Kana said. She turned to face Candy and Candy stared deeply into Kana’s eyes. Kana fell under Candy’s hypnotic stare. “What do you wish of me master?”
“Capture Sandina.” Candy commanded Kana turned around and began attacking Sandina.
“Kana! Wake up! You’re under her control!” Sandina said dodging Kana’s punches and kicks.
“She can’t hear you my sweet. She’s mine now.” Candy brushed her fingers along Kana’s neck. “You humans just do not understand how we vampires are far stronger, and that resisting our power is futile.”

Part 17

“Come now my sweet. Do not resist capture. Things will go so much smoother if you just give up.” Candy said.
“With this new transformation I can kill you with ease.” Sandina said. Suddenly Sandina transformed back into a human. “Crud….Murphy’s Law. I hate Murphy’s Law!”
Candy laughed softly. “Too bad, I would have loved to see you beaten in your other form, but I guess that will have to wait.” Candy walked pass Kana and snapped her fingers. Kana fell to the ground. “That snack will have to wait.”
“You’ll have to go through me first.” Sandina said running and blocking the passed-out Kana.
“That’s fine with me.” Candy disappeared and Sandina looked around. Candy slammed Sandina against the wall. Sandina’s left arm was sprained from the impact. Sandina clenched her left arm and leaned against the brick wall. “Oh… I hurt you. Let me take away your pain with a quick bite.” Candy said flashing her fangs. “But I have to finish this main course before I get my dessert.” Candy bent down, rose up Kana’s head and tilted her neck back.
“LEAVE HER ALONE!” Sandina raced towards Candy and swung at her with her wounded left arm. Candy dodged Sandina’s attack with ease and she pushed Sandina to the ground. “Dang it… this hurts.” Kana awoke and screamed in fear. Candy bit down on Kana’s neck and Kana’s body grew pale. Sandina saw the blood dripping from Candy’s fangs as she whipped around. Fear suddenly struck her. Her body began to tremble. She had never truly seen a vampire feed on someone. Sandina slowly backed up. Candy finished feeding on Kana and looked up at Sandina.
“You should remain on the ground as you are now. It will go easier for you.” Another vampire said as he came down the corridor. Sandina pushed herself back against the wall.
“Back off Jon. This human is mine.” Candy hissed.
“Oh, I don’t doubt that; except the fact that your father sent me here to find out what was taking you so long. He’ll be disappointed to find out that you stopped to have a snack.” Jon said smirking at Kana’s lifeless body. Sandina raced off down the hallway.
“She’s getting away!” Candy said running after her. Jon stuck out his arm, blocking Candy’s path. “Get out of my way Jon!”
“She will not get far. My men will be waiting for her.” Jon said with an evil smirk.
Sandina pushed open a door and raced across the library. She fretfully looked behind her. Sandina stopped and leaned back against a black marble pillar in the library. Suddenly Sandina heard the hissing of vampires. Nervously she looked up and there were four vampires standing upside-down on the ceiling staring down at her. They soared down and all around her as Sandina tried to fight them away.
“GO AWAY!” Sandina said punching and kicking at the vampires. Their hissing laughter sent cold chills down her spine. “LEAVE ME ALONE!” Sandina was cornered against two bookshelves.
“See? They already have her cornered.” Jon said pointing to Sandina.
“I have to admit. I was doubtful at first, but I see I was wrong.” Candy said.
“I’ll finish this.” Jon said. He took out two long knives from out of his sleeves. He carefully took aim and threw the knives from across the room into Sandina’s legs, just above the kneecaps. Sandina screamed in agony as she was forced to her knees. “And that is how you properly catch a human.”
“You’re wrong. She’s still fighting.” Candy said.
“Then you are not paying attention.” Jon walked forward and called off his men. Sandina huffed and puffed; her eyes downcast and her body bleeding badly from their attacks. Jon pulled out another knife from his sleeve and Sandina looked up. Her eyes were locked onto the blood stained knife. “This knife has skinned many humans and drained them of their blood. Its time you learned your lesson human.” Candy grabbed Jon’s arm before he could slice Sandina.
“We need her alive for the machine to work. Killing her will ruin five hundred years of work.” Candy said. Count Diago entered the library with Nichu and Keto behind him.
“What is all the commotion about?” Count Diago asked.
“We recaptured the human father.” Candy said.
“What human?” Count Diago asked. All the vampires looked at the corner and Sandina was gone. They heard her footsteps and they looked up on the upper floor of the library. There was Sandina racing up the staircase. Count Diago flew up and stopped her at the top. Sandina froze. “Naughty little girl. We’ve been kind to take care of you. And this is how you repay us, by running away?” Sandina front-flipped over Count Diago, but he grabbed her ankle and she fell to the marble floor. He hung her over the railing and smiled. “We can be very cruel.”
“You psycho vampire! You’ve killed my friends and family and you call that kindness?! YOU ARE MURDERERS!”
“Who are the murderers? You humans hunting us down every chance you get.”
“Leave us alone count and you wouldn’t have that problem in the first place!” Count Diago let go of Sandina’s ankle and she fell to the bottom floor.
“You inferior humans should not decide what we can and cannot do. You are weak and small. Your powers do not match our own and you are nothing to us but food. Why should we let you decide whether to live or die?”
Sandina stood up in agony. “That’s amazing, after all that she’s still able to get up.” Keto thought.
Sandina smirked and fell back against the staircase. “Well if you’re going to kill me. Go ahead. Give it your best shot. Cause you won’t be able to kill me later.” Sandina said. She coughed up some blood, but kept the smirk on her face.
“Kill you?” Count Diago said walking down the stairs. “Oh no my dear, we have something much more planned for you. Your death will have to wait till later. We always will have our control over little things like you.” Count Diago patted Sandina’s head. “After all, you are our new pet. Though you still need plenty of training, I’m sure by the harvest moon, you will see things from our prospective.”
“What do you want to do with her now Count Diago?” one vampire asked.
“Jon, I want you and your men to take her below, get her fitted for an electronic collar. She’ll have to learn just like any other stubborn pet. Keto...”
“Yes sir?”
“You will go with them to learn how to properly collar a human.”
“Father… would it not be more effective to put her under someone so she can be trained?”
“Brilliant idea Keto. Nichu, I want you to…”
“NO! I want to train her. I will train her and she will learn to respect and obey us!”
“Very well Keto. You may train her. You have till the Harvest Moon to get her ready to run the machine.”
“That’s only a month.” Keto said.
“Any other vampire can do it. Do you want me to change my mind?”
“No. I will tame her.”
“Good. Now, the rest of us can go back to the party. Let’s not have any more interruptions tonight.” Count Diago said shutting the doors behind him.
Sandina glared at Keto and was waiting for an attack. “Do not look at me like that. I just saved your life. If my father put you under anyone else they would be relentless and cruel.”
“You call that saving my life? Being trained as some mutt power source is not being saved.” Sandina fell back against the book shelves and slid down. “There are worse things than death here.”
“Do not be so foolish.” Keto walked over and bent down beside Sandina. “You’re useless to us dead. Now, my father wanted me also to take you down to the lab to get your blood tested. So once we get you a collar we will go to the lab.” Sandina’s body convulsed with pain as she tried to stand. “You want me to help you?”
“I can get up on my own.” Sandina said pushing herself onto her feet. Sandina began to fall, but Keto caught her.
“Let me help you. It is obvious your body can not take anymore strain.” Keto said pulling Sandina close.
“That’s… so weird. I can… hear a heartbeat in him. How is this possible?” Sandina wondered.
