Role Playing Character.
Artemis Deatine. (Dee-ah-tine.)
A scarlet fauxhawk was fashioned on top of his head to keep his hair out of his eyes in combat. Artemis had piercing gray eyes that seemed to penetrate like spears. There was no acne on his entire body making his Caucasian skin look as smooth as it felt. Artemis has a small mole the size of a pimple on the back of his neck, this clarified that he was a Deatine as all members of the Deatine family have a mole in that exact spot. His nails were clean and his fingers were perfectly straight, one thing that many of his adversaries noticed was that he smelled of blooming irises.
Artemis’ eyes are prone to prediction. If somebody weren’t to move or do something casual, his brain would analyze and store it. The next time they were do to do it, movements would seem slower. In battle If Artemis wasn’t attack he would start to see things in a slower way.
Artemis often wears a kabuki mask for facial protection. The mask is made of three layers: Black Locust wood, tungsten and highly polished Mountain Hemlock wood. With the layer of tungsten the mask is heavy, however due to years of wearing the mask; Artemis has gotten use to the constant weight and sometimes forgets he is wearing it. The mask is white with red stripe markings on the cheeks and a layer of red around the eyes. Underneath the mask is a very small filter mask that will automatically switch between a talk setting and a filter setting when toxins are detected in the air.
The earring given to him from Che was later discovered to replenish mana as time progressed. Not only that but it gives off a whistle when temperatures near Artemis drop or increase and as a by-product negate the effects. This refers to ice and fire based attacks. If the earring were to be taken out then all its effects would be null and void. According to the temperature the whistle will make a lower or higher sound, it will use its own enchantment to balance the sound until it becomes unnoticeable.
Veins webbed his biceps and forearms but stopped abruptly at the last 30 centimeters due to the gauntlets encircling his hands. His torso was wrapped in a black, modern age tunic that dangled just below his waist line. A crimson red mantle was draped around his shoulders that bounced against the floor as he walked and fluttered silently in the breeze of a passing wind. Placid spandex shorts were below the tunic that congested before the knee, further down were shiny, silver colored greaves protecting the shins of Artemis. He wore slimmed down work shoes made from sturdy leather uppers and non-leather outsoles that encased his entire foot but didn’t go higher than the balls of his heels. The shoes were steel-tipped and had personalized soles as well as ankle guards.
Artemis is ambidextrous allowing him to wield one-handed weapons in either hand. Even though he is ambidextrous his right hand is slightly more steady, so he usually uses his right arm to punch and throw projectile weapons.
Underneath Artemis’s tunic is a Level 5 Dragon Skin body armor vest coated in polymer to protect him all gunshots. The armor has additional shoulder, bicep, neck and groin attachments. In the front of the tunic, on the left side, are three vertical Velcro straps. A small Velcro link of one centimeter connects three fragmentation grenades to their corresponding strap. On the back of his tunic, on his right, is a small pouch that encases five 0.3mg twinjects. And on the left side of his tunic, across from the other pouch, is another pouch the same size as the other, however this pack contains seven vials of Fiddle Back Spider toxins.
Below his shorts are padded thigh protecters with a coating of the same polymer as his interceptor. It does not have as much tensile strength, but it does it's job in the best way possible. As do his black forearm protectors. Of course, they also share the same polymer coating and have small buckles on the inside of the forearm so Artemis can still equip his guantlets.
A black, straight, metal scabbard was slung across the back of Artemis’s waist, made from Black Mythrill. The handle to the sword was the same color and material as the scabbard making the entire scabbard look like a long piece of black metal. The sword itself had been passed down through generations of Deatines originally created by Bishamonten and blessed by the gods Izanami, Inari and Fujin. The sword is a chokuto-type sword with materials that were known only to Bishamonten. However, through the generations only one adjustment has been made, an amount of concentrated necrotoxin has been collected from the Fiddle Back Spider and applied into the scabbard. When the sword is sheathed the sword gathers the toxin in the scabbard on the blade, making sure the venom is always equipped. If unable to sheath, all Artemis would have to do is pour a vial of the toxin on the blade. When wounded by the blade, the necrotoxin on the blade crawls into the bloodstream where it infects and destroy all types of tissue. With one slash the sword could leave its opponent dead in five minutes.
On Artemis’s right hip is a 50 centimeter long 19th century, Edo period wakizashi. Like Artemis’s modified chokuto sword, his wakizashi also has a toxin in the scabbard. The scabbard is made of 300 year old oak with an inner layer of stainless steel. The toxin in the scabbard is a homotoxin collected from rattlesnake and will target and destroy red blood cells that are transmitted through the bloodstream.
On the outside of Artemis’s calf on his right leg is a 17 centimeter Tantō. Unlike the other two blades carried by Artemis, it neither has a toxin nor a metal scabbard. The Tantō is carried in a Edo period deep brown aikuchi with a pink floral design.
The gauntlets of Artemis are not to be underestimated as well. Forged with celestial bronze, the gauntlets are known as “Heaven’s Clouds.” Both of the gauntlets automatically collect and store trace amounts of spiritually based attacks that have been created be either Artemis or his opponent. When the gauntlets reach the maximum point of suppression it releases all the stored up particles in a single blast of white ki.
But Artemis utilizes some technology. The fabric in his cloak is woven with xolinium, the active substance in cam-foil. When in contact with keratin the cape activates and renders the wearer virtually invisible by bending light around Artemis. If the cloak were to be damaged, all effects made plausible by the mantle would be negated and would only become useful again after repair.
Below the fragmentation grenades on Artemis' vest are another kind of grenade. Two octo-bond concussion grenades hung off of his vest with the same once centimeter Velcro straps. Eight telescoping cables, often used to restrain dangerous criminals, automatically adjust and tighten around the limb of the opponent. They can be locked and unlocked with a master key. Once clinched, they could not be removed without the key or an angle grinder. On top of the cables is a built-in concussion grenade that explodes after five seconds from when the octo-bonds attach. The cables tighten and constrict when resistance is applied.
Artemis was born with abnormal muscle tenacity and increased reflexes. This did great things for him in muscle training. With quickened reflexes and Artemis soon found him in a position where his speed was rarely matched at 250 steps per minute. His muscle tenacity has increased the movement of his heart allowing the blood cells to flow more quickly. This has generally increased his stamina substantially. All together, Artemis can full out sprint for almost five kilometers.
When Artemis was growing up he often had dreams of Fujin, god of wind. When he came to the ripe age of 14, Fujin met him in a particularly important dream where Fujin looked down upon Artemis and said wise words, “If power be what ye seek, die once to be reborn.” Fujin had said before the dream stopped and Artemis woke up. At this time Artemis was living away from his twin brother Icarus and had no intention of informing him of his dream. Artemis was never visited by Fujin again after that dream and it suddenly became obvious to Artemis. Artemis gained the power of wind manipulation when he drowned himself two weeks later after his dream. Artemis was merely reborn, not killed.
On Artemis’ back is a black tribunal tattoo. Artemis has had this since he was reborn and it contains his massive amount of power. If the tattoo were to be harmed, i.e.; flesh wound on the back, Artemis’ true powers would be unlocked: and powers of a god are quite strong. His Mana grows twofold for every turn it is active and will stop after 7 turns. His natural healing time triples and his stamina becomes almost unrivaled. He literally becomes one with the wind while controlling the currents can move large distances in less than a second. But in all fairness Artemis doesn’t know of this skill and protects his pack with a Dragon Skin vest.
Artemis can also hide his thermal temperature by using wind to spread his heat around. He detects anomalies in air currents and air density pressure to be able to sense motions as well. All currents created by Artemis are the same temperature of his body, 36 degrees Celsius. Artemis controls created and manipulated waves with a spirtual link, allowing him to force squalls, gusts, gales, tempests etc with only a thought.
