Today's world is very much different from 50 years ago.Things have drastically evolved from old record players to portable mp3 players, these days if you dont keep up with technology, you are most likely to get left behind.So are books on there way out?
If you ask kids now days, if they read for the pure enjoyment of it, they are probably going to say no,and only read if forced to.To them the funnest thing to be doing is playing on the computer,ps2, or some sort of technology.Even in schools things are changing, what use to be an hour long session pouring over books to find the rite information is now simply a click away on the computer and you don't even need internet.As easy as it may be to have a computer with internet then a shelf full of books,do all people choose something new over tradition? absolutely not! Alot of people all ages, love to get their hands on a book, maybe just for the feeling a book has when you flip through the pages or the fact that its much easier to carry around then a laptop, and maybe just to get away from reality and dive into a world of imagination only a book can give.
No matter what way books or any piece of writing is being published i think they will never fade from this ever changing media world. Whether its an audio story or an internet book they had to at some stage be written on paper.
I hope books stay with us for many, many more years to come, unless some hippies protest against us chopping down there beautiful trees, i think books will never be a thing of the past!
