Hi, I am Andols. I have been a professional tattooist and body piercer for 3 years. In this journal entry I will post mostly art (drawings). I may post some tattoos or body piercings in this journal at some point, so if that is not your thing please leave. I do not want or need your opinion about my art or profession. TECHNIQUE & TOOLS
As far as what I use to draw, it really depends on what the particular drawing is, although I can tell you I NEVER use photoshop to draw or color. I sometimes use photobucket's editing application to brighten up my images or to smooth out the border of the picture, but that's it. I usually use colored pencils for coloring, although sometimes I'll use markers. Either way, the only kind I use are Prismacolor pencils or markers. Crayola pencils are ok if you can't afford Prismacolors, as they tend to be a little more expensive (like $1.10 a pencil or something stupid). For black and grey/sketches I use just a regular black and grey portrait pencil set. They can be expensive, although the set I use included 10 pencils (4H, 3H, 2H, H, HB, F, 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B) and was only about $6. Sometimes I will use blending tools to smooth out shading (either a blending stub or a q-tip). Fine point pens made by Sharpie or Prismacolor are always handy to get those really dark areas as dark as they need to be to give you some nice contrast. I usually draw my pictures on a standard 8.5"x11" piece of printing paper. Sometimes I will use drawing paper from a sketchbook because they come in bigger sizes, however I find drawing paper is more easy to smear your drawing, which can be a problem if that's not the desired effect you are going for.
