Ch. 7, 2nd day, Secret place
Chris woke up that day, realizing that he had one last day besides today to think of an answer. He Got out of bed and went to his closet to get dressed.
Jack had been awake a few hours and was just finishing the large breakfest his mom had made him, just before she left for work. He sighed, not knowing what to do. Plus the tension from Chris was really getting to him. He then got an idea. 'Why not pay him a visit? Maybe i can show him the place...' He thought. With that, Jack ran to the door, and locked it from the outside before he walked off to Chris' house.
Chris was jarred from his thoughts by the front door's bell. He walked downstairs and opened the door, finding Jack at the doorway. Chris didn't expect him to be here, but he invited Jack in anyway. "In case you're wondering, I don't have an answer yet." Chris began, but Jack put his hand up and shok his head. "Not why i'm here. You've still got one day left. I simply came to see if you waanted to hang out today." Chris wasn't surprised by Jack's invitation, but what else was he going to do today? "Sure. I'm free."
Jack was delighted by the answer and stood up. "Ok. So, want to head over to the creek with me? I want to explore a little more, but I want someone to be there when I fall into vines again."
Chris couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah yeah. I'll come. " Chris was excited about the little expedition they were about to go on. They left the house and continued to the creek. Jack lead the way, pretending that he was lost. He only pointed in directions he wanted to go. At first, Chris was puzzled. Now he was worried that they'd get lost. "Maybe we should head back." He started, but just as he finished, they both came upon a clearing. The clearing contained a clear pond in the center that connected to the land they were stepping on. Flowers of all sorts grew arround the pond, and was surrounded by trees. There were lily pads in the pond, but even still no moss or murky green water was seen. Jack smiled and looked at chris, waiting for his reaction. "It's beautiful... I didn't think a place like this existed." Chris then took off his shoes and socks, then dipped his feet into the water. "Ahh... so nice." He looked over at Jack, who had taken off his shoes, socks, and shirt. "What're you doing? He asked. Jack looked at him, puzzled. "Getting in of course." He then jumped into the water. Chris looked at Jack as he swam around inside the pond, then pulled his feet out of the water and took his shirt as well, then jumped into the water.
The water felt cool against his skin and Jack looked over at chris, not expecting him to have actually jumped in. Chris smirked and splashed at Jack. "This is kinda fun. I haven't gone swimming all summer." Chris then began floating lazily on his back, enjoying the cool water. "Listen, chris..." Jack began. Chris moved upright and looked over at Jack, who was looking intently at him. "I want you to know that no matter your decision, It won't hurt me in the least. As long as we can still be friends, I don't mind." Chris was thrown off by the statement and could only manage a feeble, "O-okay." Jack then splashed at Chris, laughing. "In the meantime, let's have some fun while the sun's out." So they spent the entire afternoon playing old pool games and swimming around. Chris felt like a little kid again, but when it was time to head back, Chris was dissappointed.
He picked his shirt up and replaced it, then walked with Jack back home. After waving good bye, Chris walked up to his home, now even more confused as to what he would choose. He liked the feelings he had with Jack that afternoon, but there was still Becca. He was confused, so puzzled it was as if his brain had just died on him. So he spent the entire night thinking, since of course tomorrow was the final day, the day of the decision.
