KaKurenBo

It is based around "Otokoyo", a game of hide and seek played by children near the ruins of an abandoned old city. The children who play this disappear, believed to be spirited away by demons. Kakurenbo follows Hikora, a boy who joins the game with hopes of finding his missing sister. The story line is built on the idea that Tokyo is losing its natural aesthetic, which includes child's games such as hide and seek in order for industrial progress to ensue i.e. lighting the city of Tokyo costing innocence of childhood games.
Hikora. The young boy who plays the game to find his missing sister.
Sorincha. Hikora's sister.
Yaimao. Hikora's best friend who plays the game to lend a hand in finding Sorincha.
Noshiga. The leader of his little gang who claims is not afraid of demons.
Tachiji. One of the members in Noshiga's gang. He has blond hair and wears glasses.
Suku. Another member of Noshiga's gang. He is short and has a large, red scarf.
Inmu and Yanku. Twin brothers whose reason for playing is a mystery.

Kimotori. The liver taker (a strange red humanoid)
Chitori. The blood taker (a horned lion that wears a tarp over its back)
Aburatori. The oil taker (two small, identical demons, one sitting on a cart, and the other pulling the cart)
Kotori. The child taker ( spider-like demon with eight arms)
Oni. The demon, or ogre. It takes the form of Hikora's sister, except when the fox mask is removed its face appears to be demonic. Oni also means the one who is 'it' in tag.

Ready or not…here they come

There is a street where no one lives, where ghostly lights flicker in the shadows. It is whispered that children who play hide-and-seek there after dark are kidnapped by demons…and disappear forever. Tonight, a boy named Hikora joins the game in search of his missing sister. Eight children gather. The street lamps flare though no one is there to light them.

KakuRenBo opens on a group of boys as they set out to play a secret game called O-to-ko-yo in a strange, deserted town. Basically a game of hide and seek, O-to-ko-yo is played at night and with only two rules: Seven children must find their way, following the neon markers, to O-to-ko-yo square; and all must wear a fox mask to play. The creepy alleys and streets that grow strangely brighter as the streetlights flare inexplicably, the fact the town appears to be deserted but somehow well-maintained, and the rumors that children who play the game are never heard from again, serve only to draw the boys to the secret game. However, Hikora, KakuRenBo's protagonist has come for a different reason. He has come in search of his sister, Sorincha, who has recently gone missing after she played O-to-ko-yo in the foreboding streets and alleyways of the town.

Once the seven masked kids, all strangers except for Hikora and his best friend Yaimao, find their way to O-to-ko-yo square, they are joined by a final, eight member; a small girl, also wearing a fox mask. The game begins as the doors to a hidden section of the city swing open. A neon sign marks this as, "Demon City." Immediately, the kids separate in to groups, going their own way, not exactly certain of what to expect. Convinced the girl that joined their party earlier could be Sorincha, Hikora and Yaimao try to catch her, but as she continually remains just out of their reach, and as the strange statues throughout the Demon City seem to come to life, the game takes on a truly terrifying aspect.

The story begins

Suku: "hey, have you ever heard of otokoyo?"
Tachiji: "yeah its that secret game they play in that creepy dark town isnt it?"
Noshiga: "i heard its really cool."
Tachiji: "yeah i guess. but i also heard its really..dangerous. a-a-and everyone says not to even go near that town."
Noshiga: "thats exactly whats so cool about it! i bet there just trying to keep all the fun to them selves!."
Suku. "yeah i heard that demons live in that town."
Noshiga: "demons!? huh!"
Tachiji: "yeah yeah! they say demons live there. they can smell kids a-and they come at night and snatch them! i heard alot of kids went to that town and never came back."
Noshiga: "Huh! BS your totaly lieing!"
Tachiji: "I-im not! i-its no lie! okay.. my friend, uh he told me that he once saw a huge shadow of a demon near that town."
Noshiga: "then why dont we all go there and find out our selves?
Tachiji: "what!? no way!"
*A girl giggles*
Tachiji: "what are you lauging at!?"
Girl: "The game of otokoyo."
Suku: "huh? wait you know something about it?"
Tachiji: "Are you serious?!"
Noshiga: "hey! you better not be messing with us!"
Tachiji: "well c'mon tell us about it!"
Suku: "Shh be quiet! listen we wont tell anybody about it, pormise. so tell us."
*the girl giggles agian*
Girl: Otokoyo is a secret game that they play in that town. its a game of hide-and-seek. sometimes the lights in that town get eerily brighter and the whole town becomes a maze. but there are signs. just follow the neon lights of o-to-ko-and yo then you can find your way."
Suku: "i found it!"
Girl: "when you get to the end you'll arrive at the otokoyo square. and when seven kids arrive, the game begins. All kids must wear a fox mask to play. Otokoyo is not a normal game of hide-and-seek, its very..dangerous. they say demons appear to steal away the children who play the game, and its true. in the game of otokoyo kids will disappear."
*tachiji, suku, and noshiga walk into a area with five other kids*
Tachiji: "looks like were not the first ones here."
Suku: "wait there are eight kids here. Didnt she say we need seven?"
Noshiga: "ah who cares! im gonna reveal this demons identity anyway."
Suku: "yeah"
*toshiga looks at the gateway, the lights on it light up and the door slowly opens*
yaimao: "so..i guess its begun. Hikora you sure about this?"
Hikora: "yeah"
Tachiji: "Well it looks like the game is on."
Noshiga: "Heh! cmon lets go. *he talks to himself* the door is kinda creepy though."
*hikora looks at the girl. the girl has a moth flying around her*
Yaimao: "cmon lets go."
*every begins to walk in*
Noshiga: "Heh!"
*Suku and tachiji sigh*

*Suku tachiji and noshiga are walking down a hallway. noshiga has a stick and is hitting the wall and the floor*
Tachiji: "cmon boss cant ya be any quieter? The demons might find us."
Noshiga: "you idiot! *he mocks him* The demons are gonna find us! heh you dont really believe they exist do you!?" *he laughs. the ground and walls shake while making a rattle noise. they get startled and look around*
Tachiji: "whats that!?"
Noshiga: "ist probily somebody pushing a hotdog cart or something!"
*they start walking agian*
Tachiji: that sounded awful big for a hotdog cart, are you sure?"
Noshiga: "eh who cares!"
*noshiga gets startled by a bid red statue to the left of him*
Suku: "what is it boss? *he looks at the red statue* whoa it looks like some type of sculpture or something.
*tachiji walks up*
Tachiji: "heh boss dont tell me you were a--"
Noshiga: "who put this stupid thing in here!? *he clenches the stick then trows it at the statue breaking a light it has* Hmph! serves him right!" *he walks off with suku following behind*
Tachiji: "boss that not cool its bad luck" *he looks at the statue agian then catches up with them. its eye lights up*

*Hikora and yaimao are running down a street. they start to walk down a small street*
Yaimao: "Hikora, about your sister."
Hikora: "Sorincha?"
Yaimao: "Yeah, sorincha. Are you sure she played otokoyo?"
Hikora: Yeah she disappeared. The other day when they were playing the game." *they stop and look at each other*
Yaimao: "The game of otokoyo, kids will disappear. so you playing the game to find sorincha right?"
Hikora:"yeah" *they start walking agian*
Yaimao:"ya know ive allways wanted to find the missing kids to."
Hikora:"..that girl we met earlier..she looks alot like sorincha."
*the ground starts to shake and rattle agian. they stop and look around. yaimao looks ahead while hikora hides behind yaimao.*
Yaimao: "somethings coming!" *they see a shadow moving ahead. the girl walks out and looks at them.*
Hikora: "Thats her!" *she runs off*
Hikora: "uh, hey! *he reaches his arm out and runs after her* Wait!"
Yaimao: "hey!"
*he walks to were he last saw here and looks up the stairs and see her. yaimao stands next to him. a bell rings and she runs to her left*

*noshiga suku and tachiji are standing in the same hallway*
Noshiga: "AWW! im starving! you guys have anything to eat?"
Tachiji: "No."
Noshiga: "then why dont you go look for that hotdog cart we heard!"
*noshiga sits down on a bench and sighs. tachiji sighs.*
Tachiji: "Okay."
Suku: "wait up." *suku and tachiji walk off. noshiga relizes that suku left to*
Noshiga: "huh.. hey suku!..are you going..to?" *he watches then walk into the dark. The red demon moves to its left and growls*
*the light above noshiga flickers. he just sits there with his eyes closed. the red demon slams his foot down and startles noshiga*
Noshiga: "nnnhh!?" *he gets up and looks in its direction*
Noshiga: "No way! *he stares down the deem hallway* It cant be.."
Suku: "hey!"
Tachija: "boss!" *noshiga quickly turns around*
Noshiga: "oh..you guys, dont scare me--"
Tachiji & Suku: "behind you!"
Noshiga "huh!? what is the hotdog cart back there or something?" *he turns around and the demon roars in his face. he backs up slowly then sits down staring at it in shock. he then starts to crawl away and the demon slams his arm down to the left of him. he ducked then got up and ran with suku and tachiji*
Tachiji: "run! *he turns around* Boss?"
*noshiga knocks tachiji down. noshiga stops and looks at him, the demon then runs agian screaming. Tachiji gets up fixes his glasses then relizes its behind him. he slowly turns around, the demon growls then leaps at him. tachiji screams*

*the twins are in a alleyway. they stop and look around the place. they heard something and stoped what they were doing. Inmu steps back. they look at each other then at the wall were the noise is coming from. the wall breaks and the twins run for it. a small demon stands there looking, then runs after them. inmu and yanku split up then inmu turned around and see's the demon slam into the wall. inmu runs agian. two small identical demons gets up and stares at inmu*

*hikora and yaimao stop at the top of the stairs and looks around the room*
Hikora: "shes not here"
Yaimao: "then..were did she go?" *yaimoa walks around the room. then stops in front of a boarded up window. he looks out it*
Hikora: "yaimao.."
Yaimao: "hmm?"
Hikora: "..she really looks alot like sorincha." *yaimao nods then a bright light appears and shines through the window. hikora see's something out of the corner of his eye and runs over to it*
Hikora: "yaimao..what..is this?"
Yaimao: "isnt it just another poster?" *yaimao walks over and looks at it*
Hikora: "no..its different. *he reads the names on the poster* Liver taker, blood taker, oil taker and child taker. *he looks at yaimao* these are all names of demons."
Yaimao: "there are four.. *he looks at it closly* then whats this in the middle? hey..wait a minute, doesnt this-- *a bell rings and they turn around. the girl walks out and stands next to the window looking out. she see's noshiga and suku running down below. yaimao looks at hikora then the girl and walks over to her*
Yaimao: "hey..what are you looking at?..huh?"
*in the distance a four leged demon is walking. all the lights around it light up. its stops underneath were yaimao and the girl are looking. it sniffs then stands up on its hind legs looking through the window. yaimao panics and hides*
yaimao: "its a demon! Hikora, run! *the demon watches them run. yaimao looks at the girl while running* Come with us!"
