until a single strand
(a thought, a memory)

Ups: I'm going to Job Corps, yay me! I get my ticket on October 3rd and I leave on October 7th.

Personality: Although Mayu looks sweet, she has quite a temper. She snaps over the slightest things and is incredibly violent when provoked. She was 17 when she was turned and was tortured by her sire before that, so she's a bit sadistic with a minor masochistic streak. When she's done playing around, she'll let you know and you better comply or you'll find yourself missing an appendage.

Bio: Arte has always been looked down upon for her orientation. She's hoping that now, after 17 years of life, she'll find a girl who'll LOVE her, not just chastely kiss and blush in the halls.

Mizu likes to do her makeup in shades of dark silvery-grey and black with the occasional drop of red. She wears a black spaghetti-strap midriff tank top, a red, pleated plaid miniskirt, knee-high, archaic combat boots, and a black leather biker jacket. She evn paints her nails black.

Hair: A red-orange sort of color uncharacteristic of the region in which he was born,cut sort of choppy because he does it himself with a knife. It gets darker, to a sort of pseudo-brown/black, when he changes.
Eyes: brilliant Prussian blue in the sunlight, they turn a coppery red in the darkness
Skin Tone: pale all around, with a graphite-colored palor when he changes

other: There was a maternal uncle at some point that tried to raise him, but he got his throat ripped out for his efforts when Ark was six.

Personality: Very quiet. Often comes off as cold, but he triesto joke around every now and then, which throws people off. He tends to disappear after that. Never stays in one place longer than it takes to scour the surrounding countryside for others like him. This prevents him from forming any lasting relationships with the general populace.

NOTE - Darklings are sort of like were-demons. They're human during the day and whenever they're in direct contact with any kind of light (except bioluminescence or glow-in-the-dark illumination, for some reason), but they transform into demons in the absence of light. Ark is half darkling and half human, so his demonic form has a more human shape to it than most darklings do.

Appearance:

Personality: Ish is kind of quiet; he doesn't say much, but what he lacks in vocalization, he more than makes up for in body language. More often than not, he doesn't have to open his mouth to get his intentions across. Despite his silence, people are drawn to him. Maybe it's the pure bliss he radiates when he picks up his bass guitar, who knows, but being around him makes people feel like they're a part of something bigger, more tangible, than just a "scene."

History: Ish picked up the bass by accident. He played violin in his junior high's orchestra and picked up guitar in high school. He got annoyed with both; too many strings. He got a part-time job at a music store in his junior year. He was in the store one day, doing inventory on the boxes of various instruments' strings that had just come in, when his boss called him over. He was supposed to go to the house of some big-time rocker and do a string presentation, the sort of special thing a part-timer never really gets to do. Well, he went up there and, while the guy was looking over the string selection, he heard the other band members talking about how their bassist had quit and they were never going to get the album finished. Ish got an idea, of course, and went over to the other band members, picked up the bass sitting on its stand in the studio area, pluggedit in, and flicked a couple of strings. He didn't know how to PLAY, but he knew how to make noise, which he did. The other guys were impressed. They funded his bass lessons, he played basss on the rest of their album, and dropped out of high school. Unfortunately, the band fell apart around then, and Ish was stuck. He now works full-time at the music store, does studio work with various random bands, and lives in his grandmother's basement.

History:
Mayu was raised in a slum district of the port city Yokosuka. She grew up in a one-room shack with a mother dying of cancer and a baby sister. Her mother was a semi-professional seamstress and mended people's clothing for enough money to put her children through school. Unbeknownst to her mother, Mayu made a small amount of extra change by helping the fisherman haul lines and running market errands for the visiting navy men and women. She used this to make sure her sister had the best school supplies she could get while she subsided on what her mother's coin could get.

After high school, Mayu went to Tokyo to look for work. She found her well-paying job at the boutique and moved her family into a small apartment near the boutique. Her mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer six months after they moved in. However, being a strong woman, she refused to die in a hospital, so Mayu made her mother as comfortable as possible so she could die at home, with her daughters near her. She died peacefully in her sleep and Mayu buried her in the hilltop cemetary in Yokosuka where her grandmother was interred.

In the first year after Mayu's mother died, six different men showed up, claiming to be her father. None of their claims stood against paternity tests. Mayu still does her best to ensure Ichiko has the best of everything. She even took on an apprenticeship under an area tattoo artist to ensure that her kid sister can afford to go to any university she wants.

For the most part, though, Mayu is a typical Shinjuku punker. She eats, sleeps, and breathes the things her boutique sells.
