Some people don't like competition. Graphic arts is full of this, since it is one of the most popular jobs right now. If you're aspiring to be an artist, you need to be persistant to be seen.
In the picture post forum, I hung out with people in the Avatar edit thread. I wasn't exactly friends with anyone, but we were talking about random stuff from time to time. Anyway, I was tired of having only compliments on my edits, so I posted a message that requested the harshest criticism that the replier could give. My post was entirely ignored for 5 pages, even though I was near the top of the page.
I quote the post, and say that I was unseen. All I get is compliments, not a damn bit of help. So, after a new edit, I finally get criticism, and I used what I could on the next edit to fix the flaws. After a short "break" from the thread, I do a new edit, and I get a single compliment, even though I said to ctriticize, not comment. I quote it a few times after the pages become new, but no answer. I go to sleep after this. The next day, I see that my posting has gained unhappy attention, but oh well. I got criticism.
Now, Deviantart is more helpful. So, I doubt I'll even post edits anymore. Full works are my thing now. I've been working hard to make the best digital busts of creatures and humans, along with giftart for artists I think are awesome.
