Well,This is a story I guess I'm gonna write.I havent thought of a title, but that can come later. Well, Here ya go!!
~Chapter 1~ ".....in a world where lies are told and deceit is inevitable, where is one to turn? Can trust be found anywhere? Why are we forced to live in a world of injustice and cruelty? It doesn't seem fair.We must work at the expense of others. In a world of plenty, people are starving. The world we live in is a harsh and spiteful one.Alone we cannot survive, but together we must. The fears of the world are changing and becoming reality. We are safe, but for how much longer? How much longer..." finished Ryu, as the roar of the crowd grew and the applause seemed to last forever. She didn't expect her simple freestyle poem to get this much recognition. She had written it for fun, and didn't think it was very good. As she walked back to her seat to gather her stuff, her friend Marguerite rushed up with her."That was AMAAA-ZING!! It was sooooo deep, it's like...totally," she said with her usual far off gaze and and southern drawl. "It was okay...I guess." Ryu replied. "Well, I thought it was great," Marguerite retorted. "Okay, well I have to get home.My mom's gonna get worried." "Since when do you care what she thinks?" "I don't it's just...." Ryu said, looking at the ground. "Whateva chica, just go." " 'Kay, See ya tomorrow," Ryu replied as she sprinted towards the door. Throwing open the door and nearly knocking over a boy and girl who were holding hands, Ryu grabbed her bike and started to peddle down the dark and dreary allies of The Bronx. Crap Ryu thought to herself Why on Earth did I have to get out of there so fast? I hate my mom. She slowed down her peddling and turned the corner that led off to her dinky old apartment. As she slowly brought her bike to a halt, she saw her neighbor Eryk. "Oh,hey Ryu. How's it going?" He called out to her. "Oh, hi Eryk! I'm good, I guess.Aside from living in a freaking hell-hole, i'm fine and dandy," Ryu replied. She had always liked him, but she never figured that he would go for a girl like her.Ryu had long curly black hair that went down to her butt. She was skinny and had bright blue eyes, which she got from her mother. "Well, we can't change that now can we?" Eryk teased. "Yeah,I wish." "Well See ya!" he said as he rushed off. "Umm..Bye,"she said, as she felt the blood rushing to her face. Ryu quietly climbed the stairs that led to the apartment, weary of what she would have to face once she reached door...
~Chapter 2~
Ryu climbed the old cement stairs that led to her decrepid apartment, where her alcholic mother would be waiting for her to come.As soon as she stepped in the door it would probably yelling, cussing, and maybe throwing things. And that was when her mom was in a good mood. Ever since Ryu's dad had died when she was 9, her mom had spiraled off the deep end. Every night she would go out and drink her self silly then come home and cry herself to sleep. Then the next day Ryu would be ordered to take care of her every whim and need. The beatings had begun accompanying the harsh demands just recently. Many days Ryu would have to tend to her cuts and bruises in the girls bathroom of her high school, hoping that no one would see her and suspect anything. Many days,it was her writing that kept her from losing it too.As she reached the apartment door, she started to open the door, hesitating for a minute, preparing herself for what lay on the other side. Finally, after a few minutes she slowly turned the doorknob, which let out a long squeak which seemed to give off a warning that she shouldnt go in.Quietly she opened the door and looked aroud, hoping to get to her room without her mother seeing her.Her luck had escaped her and there her mom was sprawled out on the living room couch, surrounded by empty bottles and the remains of TV dinners. Bottle of vodka in hand, she sat up,her eyes bloodshot with dark circles under her eyes. "Clean up your mess,"she said, her words slurring together. "Yes, ma'am." She said quickly. Many times a mere 'hello' would result in bottles flying towards her.She kept her eyes down, avoiding her mother's almost deadly gaze.Ryu picked up all the trash and brought and carried it quickly to the trash can.As she whipped around to try to find refuge in her room, she was met with the stare that could have resembled the devil's.For a brief moment,Ryu and her mother's eyes met. Her mom's eyes glazed over for a second, but then turned icy with hate. "It's your fault,"she whispered at first, but then raised her voice to a loud, shrill scream."IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!" Her hand reached down towards one of the bottles that Ryu had not seen.Ryu's instinct took over and one word came to her mind,"Hide." Quickly, she sprang behind the counter, and grabbed a nearby pot for protection, just as a bottle whistled over her head and shattered.Ryu looked up in time to see her mom staggering over to where she was hiding.Ryu sprang up to try to get to the bathroom.Suddenly,Ryu was flying face first towards the ground, narrowly missing a tower of bottles. She flipped around, clawing out for something to protect her from her from her mother's vicious onslaught.Ryu's heart nearly leapt out of her throat as she realized what her mother had swiped from off the counter.A tarnished silver fork was grasped tightly in her hand, raised and ready to attack.A stream of tears ran down Ryu's face as she realized that her life could very well come to an end right there and now...
~Chapter 3~
A sharp shrill scream pierced the air as the prongs of the fork sank into Ryu's arm.Blood ran down her arm as she bit her lip in pain hoping no one had heard her.Her mother was kneeling on the floor tears running down her face,as she struggled taking shallow labored breaths. Ryu decided to get up quickly and sprint to her room.As quietly as she could, she got up and ran as stealthily as she could to her safe haven. As she got in her room, she closed the door gingerly.Briskly, she looked under her bed for her roll of bandages that she always kept hidden. She surreptiously cleaned the wound and then wrapped it up carefully, making sure not to further injure it. After tending to her wounds, she grabbed her laptop from her desk and sat down quietly on her bed.She opened it and quickly turned it on and opened her favorite program;Microsoft word.Briskly she wrote and wrote, inventing stories of marvel and magic. She wrote of a world where imagination ruled and if you believed it,so it would be.As she wrote all this down, streams of tears ran down her face as she channeled all of her anxieties and anger and extreme pain into inventive stories. After she had finished, she saved, turned off her laptop and put her head down on her pillow,Allowing all of her imaginings to form into dreams....
"BEEEP BEEEPP BEEEP!" "Ughh.." Ryu said as she groggily rolled over and shut off her alarm clock.5:30 it read.Ryu clambered out of bed, threw on some clothes that were lying around, that she suspected were clean. She grabbed her backpack and headed for the door.Silent as a ninja, she opened it and peaked around, surveying for her mother.Seeing that she was no where in sight,Ryu scrambled for the door and escaped into the outside world.
