My journal for what ever
Kindness
There was a goddess once. She roamed from realm to realm. A demon spotted her and stopped her thinking he could take what was rightfully hers. She had a power beyond reckoning. Now she stood face to face with this Demon and he laughed.
"A wager." He said. "You show me someone who can do no wrong and i shall corrupt them. You find someone who is corrupted and save them. If i corrupt the uncorrupted. I win your jewel. You save the corrupted. and i still not corrup the uncorrupted. You win and i shall change my ways."
She laughed. She knew something this demon did not and it tickled her so. She took the wager. they found two women. One who had sunk to the depths of depraventy and despair. The other one who had known strife but remained untainted even though. The first was of fair hair and blue eyes. Those eyes hardened by cruelty and distrust. The second of dark hair and black eye. those eyes full of humor and understanding.
Months these two entities stayed close to the women. Until slowly they both began to change. Her darke yes grew stony. Her dark hair lost its luster. The others blond hair shone as gold her blue eyes as the sky. A year broke and the two met up.
"I have sent her to the pits of depravety." He said
"And i .. have shown her light and how happiness can indeed come."
"It will not last, and she will fall."
"Tell me of your desperate one. Has she fallen to the depths of debotchery as well."
The demon looked nervous as somehow the two women crossed paths. A day or two more and perhaps the dark haired one would have fallen and the demon would have won. But it seemed this day the fates had more planned than such as that. The dark haired one met the eyes of the fair haired one. A tear came to the fair haired ones eyes as she felt she looked upon some faintly remembered past.
She extended a hand and the dark haired one looked upon her.
"take my hand. and we will talk. " she said gently.
"do you wish to mock me. and make me feel worse about my position than it already feels."
"no. i do not. but i do belive we have met."
"have we?"
A narrowing of the darkhaired ones eyes as she tried to remember. The rain fell heavily in her memory as she widened her eyes.
"strawberry cake. and hot soup."
"it is you. please. once you helped me. let me return the favor as i have been given favor by some entity or other. "
as they clasped hands the demon cursed foully. The goddess narrowed her eyes as she smiled impishly. In a burst of fire and smoke the two dissapeared only to reappear on the ground.
"how did you know"
"I didnt. but. i learned something about these creatures long ago. if even the trace of a kindness is shown. someone who has known it before will indeed welcome its return. so you see. you lost the moment you took the wager that the spirit of these creatures could be corruted so far as to become nothing and as empty as you are. and. always remember. the fire that often seems out. mearly sleeps benieth the embers and may spark to burn again."
as she dissapeared in the fall of white feathers the demon thought. yes.. she had won the wager. and perhaps. she had won something more.
