Footsteps of two weary travellers echoed off the stone street with the mountains gleaming far in the distance. Auron looked tired and his eyes were red from looking from a torchlight for so long it gave him an insane look.
Sarah however was the worse for wear she limped badly and her arm was wrapped against her chest tightly her free hand never strayed far from her stomach either. But they had finally arrived in Turinth the city of trade and information. If the person they were looking for was anywhere it would be here where any rumours of their arrival would reach him.
They stopped at a tavern for a small bite to eat and a drink Auron helped Sarah into her chair and walked to the barkeep "I would like a chicken and some drinks brought to that table over there" He pointed to their table " And also anything the girl wants give to her. Make sure she is left alone by anyone who might be too friendly understand." The Barkeep nodded and Auron handed him some coins and left the tavern and walked along the street looking for anything that resembled a doctors office.
He stopped a young boy running down the street "Do you know if their is a doctor or healer of some sort around here?" the boy scratched his head then pointed down the alleyway. Auron walked into the alleyway and saw a small hut in the corner of it he walked inside and saw a young man grinding herbs in mortar and pestle the man noticed he had company and walked over "Yes how may I help you"
"I have a friend who is badly injured and I am looking for a doctor or healer to take a look at her." The Healer dusted off his robe and grabbed a piece of paper and wrote on it and handed it to Auron "Bring her here and give this paper to my assistant it will let you enter my room for me too look at your friend."
Auron thanked the doctor and left when he arrived back at the tavern Sarah was nowhere to be seen. He asked the barkeep and he said she looked horrible so he let her use one of the rooms upstairs to rest. Auron walked to the stairs and saw what appeared to be a mercanary guarding the stairway. When Auron approached
the guard lowered his spear "You the guy who told Tom to watch out for yonder sleeping maiden?"
"And what if I am?
The Guard raised his spear and offered a hand "Names Jordan Tom asked me to guard her from any unwanted company."
Auron shook his hand "It seems you have done a good job now let me by Jordan."
Jordan nodded and moved aside Auron walked up and opened the door slowly and saw Sarah was still asleep. She lay there peacefully for the first time since they entered the mountains her golden hair spread like a halo around her head her breathing slow and steady. Auron closed the door and knelt down next to her and brushed a stray hair from her head.
Looking at her as images of another woman that looked alot like her flashed through his head. He leaned forward and kissed her softly on the lips before getting up and heading back downstairs waiting for her to wake up.
A few hours passed and Sarah came down the stairs the dusty travelling clothes replaced by a fine shirt and pants her hair put in a ponytail.
She walked over to Auron and smiled coyly "It's impolite to stare."
Auron smiled "I got a doctor to see you but we should probably leave now if we want to get there in time." He helped her get up and they walked to the doctors home and handed the note to his assistant.
She lead them into a room on the top floor the smell of medicinal herbs wafting out the door. As they entered the doctor looked up and smiled as he dusted off his robe "Hello again my hooded friend it is good to see you and I assume this is the patient please miss if you would lay on the bed over there and we will get started."
Sarah managed to lay on the bed without much help and the doctor carried a bowl of a green colored paste.
"Excuse me miss but your going to have to remove your shirt so I can see all possible injuries."
Sarah glared at him and Auron "Thats not the only thing you two will see" she growled but removed the shirt and what would have been a perfect body was covered in blackish bruises. The doctor looked at Auron "What happened to her to cause these marks?"
Auron walked to sarah who's eyes were looking off to the side embarrassed at the fact that Auron could see something he shouldnt but he didnt notice "We took a path through the Skyripper mountains it was a harsh road and she pushed herself to the limit. I believe her arm is broken as well I was able to put it in a sling but you should still examine it."
The doctor nodded and examined the arm and applied some of the paste to the break along with the bruises as well." She should be fine but she'll need to spend the night here you are welcome to stay as well."
Later after a well done dinner Auron went upstairs to check up on Sarah and saw that she appeared to be asleep as he turned to leave he heard a a quiet soft voice call out to him. He turned to Sarah and her innocent eyes glowed in the moonlight he knelt by her bed
"Please Auron stay with me I don't want to be alone."
Auron went to sit in a chair but she grsped his hand. "No come here and lay next to me."Auron slipped over her onto the other side of the bed.
He felt her grab his hand and wrap it around her waist and she moved up against him and soon she fell asleep in his arms. He looked down at her and smiled as he himself slipped into a quiet sleep
