I step in through the door finally arriving home. Tossing the mail, full of Christmas Cards and holiday flyers along with my keys onto the table, I let my bag drop to the floor. Immediantly I walk over to the fridge. I know I should be emptying my lunch bag but at the moment something else was already currently empty. My stomach. After raising the fridge and the ice box and finding nothing I sigh and go over to the cupboards. Nothing there either. Heaving myself up onto the counter I sit down on the corner almost crushing a white tupperware that I hadn't noticed before. "Oh, whats this?" I mutter to myself picking up the container and lifting it to eye level. Opening the corner of it I peaked inside and sniff. Sugar. Licking my lips I toss the tupperware lid on the counter beside me. With an evil grin I went to grab one oddly, gooy, brown squares that laid in the plastic. But a sudden thought crossed my mind. "I wonder if it's okay to eat these..." I stated aloud while adding in my head. 'Mom could be saving these or something.' With a defeated sigh I look around the empty kitchen. "She won't notice one gone... they're probably not that good anyway." With that as my guide I lift one of the sweets to my mouth and I can feel my eyes light up. "Oh my god. Pecans!" My declaration was slightly muffled due to the sugar coating my tongue, but I just laughed and picked up another square as my dad came up the stairs, just arriving home from work.
He eyed me for a second as I finished the second failed attempt of pecan squares. "Aren't those your mothers."
"I Think so."
~
My mom scoops up a now soft pecan square with a spoon and offers it to Paul who refuses the sweat. She frowns and sets it on his plate, then scooping up another one she pointed the utensil at me and offers the sweet to me. I grin widely accepting the gooy mess off the spoon and popping it into my mouth. I grin Happily as she offers me another one, with a small laugh I take it while muttering though the one already in my mouth, "Man four of these cannot be good for you."
"Four?" My mother asks me curious.
"I ate two when I got home." I reply starting on the next square with a shrug. "I didn't know if it was okay but I ate it anyway."
"And if it wasn't she was going to blame it on Paul." My Dad, of course. Always ruining my plans.. only Paul got home after mom and she would have seen him eat them. >>
I grin as Paul gets up and leaves to go play his new game and I eye his uneaten square. I lok over at my mother before grinning happily. "Can I eat his?"
... A disapproving look... I expected it though. She sighs and says yes and I reach over and snatched it.
My father chuckles and offers. "If we gave you the last three would you do the dishes?" he asks.
I nodd my head enthusiacally. He stares at me in disbelief. I just smile and eye the squares. I give an innocent smile to mom silently asking for another. What can I say, I'm a pig. My mother shakes her head and I let my shoulders fall. "Aw." I pout grabbing my glass of pop and heading back to the computer.
