As usual, I don't know if it's good or not, so please tell me!
I MADE SOME CHANGES TO THE END!
SCENE 7:
Kids in chamber, empty plates on the floor, Kate sitting on a chair combing through Lily’s hair and Raven holding one of the plates.
Raven: [picks up plate] How loud d’you think it’d be if I smashed this?
Kate: [weirded out] I don’t know…..why, are you gonna try and form a band? There’re only so many plates you can crash…
Raven: [mildly exasperated sigh] No…[glances at Kate] I was actually, uh….I want to see if I can make a knife out of it.
Kate: Roger!
Raven: RAVEN says that he thinks it’s time to see if we can get out.
Kate: Yeah? Well KATE says that you’re nuts! [sigh] It’s just too dangerous, and there’s no point anyway. We can’t get past that forcefield thing.
Raven: Yeah, yeah….forcefield, I know. But didn’t Queen Elizabeth say earlier that if the portal between worlds is left up, than the portal is open? Meaning, we can get through?
Lily: Yeah, but Charlie probably keeps it shut. And that lady probably does too.
Kate: Yeah, really…
Raven: Well, okay, but eventually they’re gonna get caught off their guard…and I say, sooner than later! Next time Charles comes-
Lily: Charlie. I like Charlie better.
Raven: um. Well, okay, YOU can call him that…anyway, next time he comes in here, I’m gonna like…distract him or something.
Kate: Raven, you’ve got to stop being so rash! You have to think these things through! We don’t even know where we’d end up if we got through, and honestly, chances are Charles-
Lily: Charlie.
Kate: Fine! Chances are, uh, Charlie, isn’t gonna mess up and leave it open!
Raven: If I fluster him enough he will. You saw him before. He gets all muddled and then, well…[smiles]anything can happen.
Kate: No.
Raven: Yes.
Kate: NO.
Raven: YES.
Kate: No way!
Raven: Yes way!
[pause where Raven and Kate glare at each other]
Lily: I want some grapes.
[Pause where Kate and Raven stop and look confused]
Kate: You are SO random sometimes.
Lily: Well, actually, I don’t want grapes. It’s Chris who wants them. She showed up.
Raven: Oh no….not Chris again. [puts head in hands and groans]
Kate: Honey, Chris doesn’t exist…
Lily: What’re you talking about? Stop it, you’re gonna hurt her feelings!
Kate: [sigh] Okay. Sorry, Chrysanthemum…[glances at a random spot in the air]
Lily: Why’re you looking at her neck? I think she feels self-conscious….
Kate: I don’t know where to look!
Lily: Oh, dear, you’re just hopeless….[turns to her side] Don’t worry, Chrissy, I can see you, I know you’re here. So…looks like we’ve been kidnapped! Where’d you go?
Raven: Kate, you’ve GOT to put a stop to this….she’s NINE already, this is getting ridiculous…it’s not normal to have an imaginary friend for 6 years!
Kate: I don’t know what to do!
Lily: [in background has been talking] You went to find help? How sweet! [pause] I’m sorry no one listened….adults are so stupid sometimes. I know. Yup, exactly! [turns toward Raven and Kate] SEE? How could she POSSIBLY not exist? She understands me so well….
Kate: Um….
[Charles walks in, carrying a martini and a plate of food]
Charles: Sorry I was late! It was fashion night-*ahem* excuse me, I had to go to, uh, foosyball practice.
Raven: You mean FOOSBALL practice? Ha, as if! You were probably strutting your stuff in a Victoria’s secret bra…
Charles: No, actually it was from Lord and Taylor, thank you very much.
Kate: Oh my GOD…my future husband is GAY!
Charles: For the LAST time! I am not gay…
Lily: Oh, Charlie, have you met Chrysanthemum?
Charles: Heh?
Lily: Chrysanthemum, come on, don’t be shy. He’s nice. He’s my friend Charlie. He wears pretty purple dresses sometimes!
Charles: I do not-
Lily: Chrissy says hi.
Charles: Who is Chrissy?
Kate: Her imaginary strawberry friend….thing….
Charles: uh….oh. [turns to Lily, squats down and starts talking to the air next to her] Yes, of course, it’s lovely to meet you, Chrysanthemum.
Lily: She says to call her-
Charles: Oh, why certainly, of course I’ll call you Chrissy…
Lily: [eyes get big] YOU CAN SEE HER! YOU CAN SEE HER! [turns to Kate and Raven] See, I TOLD you she was real!
Charles: Why of course she’s real! How could she possibly not be? You don’t mean to tell me these dimwits can’t see her?! [playing along, smiling]
Raven: Yeah, well, these particular dimwits would like to mention that you look like a female fashion designer.
Kate: [nods] Sadly, it’s true.
Lily: that’s okay, Charlie. Chris and I think you look pretty.
Charles: [swallows] Yes, well, thank you dear…
Raven: [glances meaningfully at Katie, then starts imitating a british accent] Oh, mummy, oh, dearie me, they think I’m gay, mummy, oh…tell them to leave me alone, oh, I’m british, oh, listen to my fruity gay accent, mummy!
Kate: [watching nervously]
Charles: Why…hey, you’ve no right to speak to me like that! [seeming upset]
Raven: Oh, cheerio, I’ve got to go to FOOSYBALL practice with my boyfriend, oh, I mean I want to go cross dress in my bedroom now, don’t tell anyone!
Charles: Shut up!
Raven: Oh, dear, now the little boy has gone and made me all upset! I do hope I don’t end up ruining my nail polish! Oh, mummy!
Charles: I SAID shut UP!
Raven: Why, what are you gonna do about it, Queen Elizabeth? Huh, pansy?
Kate: Roger that’s enough-
Raven: You going to get your mummy in here, huh? Or maybe that crazy WITCH you work for!? What’re you gonna do, beat me with your pink parasol?
Charles: Shut your mouth, boy.
Raven: You’re just worried cause you know you’re not a REAL man, you’re just-
Kate: Roger! I said that’s enough!
Raven: [quiets down, seeing Charles looking upset] [Silence as Charles leaves quickly]
Lily: You didn’t have to go that far. He was really upset.
Raven: Yeah, well, I think you’re forgetting he kidnapped us.
Lily: Raven-
Raven: Look, I’m getting us out of here, okay? Why does it matter how he FEELS anyways? He’s just some loser.
Kate: C’mon, Raven, that’s not exactly fair…it’s not like they’re hurting us or anything! It could be a lot worse!
Raven: Oh whatever. I’m going to go see if I just managed to save your sentimental little butts. [goes up, picks the lock on the gate. Walks over to bookcase]
Kate: Careful, you don’t want to get shocked again…
Raven: [reaches forward, touches the bookcase back without getting hurt] [face lights up] ha HA! Look!
[Lily and Kate stand up and walk over to where he is]
Kate: Oh my god….it worked! We’re outta here!
Lily: Yes!
Kate: Wait…how do we know where we’re going to end up coming out in our world?
Raven: We don’t. But we don’t have time to consider. [looks at the door determinedly] This is our only chance right now, so…[pushes door open slowly to reveal a black empty space]
Kate: What-what’s out there?
Lily: [makes nervous noise]
Raven: [reaches outside of chamber and gropes around until he finds a switch and turns it on to reveal Maya’s basement] What the hell….?
[kids step out, bookcase closes behind them]
[kids glance nervously backwards]
Kate: Where is this? It looks like our world, for sure, but…this sure isn’t that alley we were in before.
Lily: Good. That alley was creepy.
Raven: Yeah….[glances around, catches sight of something (to be figured out) that is Anna Lucia’s] I think this must be her, like, earth house or something.
Kate: Heh?
Raven: You know, like a summer home, just….in a different world.
Lily: Weird. Chrissy says she wants us to get a summer home but in the magic world.
Kate: Okay…[distracted, looking around] once we get home…
Raven: Okay, okay let’s get out of here! [turns and starts running for the stairs] It’s now or never guys, we’ll have to figure out where we are once we get out of this house!
[Shot of Kate and Lily running after him, and then blackout]
