So I'm performing and working on 8 pieces of music for soloistic stuff and saxophone quartet right now. Me being who I am, I've been trying to research the composers and the pieces that I'm performing. Pretty cool wanting to enlighten myself, right? I thought so too. However, there's a tiny little problem about all of this.

I can't find s**t.

See, no matter what book I look in biography I read, none of them tell me anything I can really use about the composers. The only person who had some decent info I could conjecture from was Karel Husa and that's not the most intricate of pieces. Bishop and I talked about it yesterday and it's meaning at least so I feel more knowledgable about it. However, some of the composers I can't find ANYTHING on! It's like they don't even freakin' exist and their music just POOFED out of thin air one day. So annoying...

School's kind of going along and I'm trying to put lots of stuff on myself. I'm currently creating an entire database of for all of the performances of Stetson saxophonists for the past five years. It's a pretty time consuming task what with all of these different pieces having been done and the other day I realised something else I have to do on top of what I already have done. See, there's times when people will naturally play a piece that someone else has played in the past. Since this is the case, I'm going to have to create dozens of other subdirectories to my subdirectories so I can lump performances in with who performed them and create notes about When they were performed.

The things I do for my studio...Hell, I've even decided to take it upon myself and try to analyze the Etudes and pieces that I've personally played and write a playing analysis of them to help later saxophone students. Of course, there's also a double idea with that one since the school gives out grants for summer research projects. I'm hoping maybe I can get more scholarship money and possibly some noteriety from the school.

Let's hope I don't fall face first into a smoothie one day from exhaustion because of this though. sweatdrop
