Log three: One life ends, another begins
After the sage brought the boy to the temple and sorted out the issues with his master, he set up a room for him next to to his in the mages quarters. In the years to come, the sage trained Light in the arts of magics , elements, and manipulation. All the while keeping his werewolf form from getting out of hand. One day when Light was 7 'in human years' the sage sent him out on an errand into town to pick up something from a shop that dealt in magic ingredients. After Light had picked up the Item 'which turned out to be a rare type of Chinese herb and a few crystallized berries' he made his way back to the temple. While working his way up the mountain path, Light saw something very peculiar on the ground, very large paw prints and 3 pairs of bootprints that didn't look like the type that Light normally saw on the path. He then herd a sound in the nearby forest but could not identify what had made the noise. He then looked up and noticed a plume of smoke rising in the air near by. Light was now very worried "Whats going on?" He thought "The fires are not lit until night time." He said as he rushed toward the temple. The sight he saw upon his arrival sent a cold chill down his spine and a feeling of terror throughout his whole body. The temple was on fire! Light then abandoned all logical reasoning and entered the temple. Upon entering he saw many of the sages and warriors that had trained there had been slain at the front gates while defending the inner sanctom. He progressed inward, looking for his master. He eventually reached the center of the temple where a single giant support beam was located. There, impaled into the support beam by a sword was his master. Light, seeing this fell to his knees and dropped the potion ingredients and started to shake. "No, whats going on? This does not make any sense." He thought as tears started to from in his eyes. "Master, who would do such a thing?" He said to the hanging body. Just then the sages eyes opened and he started to speak. "Light...is that...you?" He said, struggling as each word was forced out. Light then looked up and said "Master, your alive! Who did this? Why would anyone do such a thing?" Light was about to say more but the sage stopped him. "Light...I need...you...to do one...last thing...for me." He then handed Light a paintbrush with a rune placed on the head. "Go into my...quarters and...search behind...the tapestry...use the brush...to manipulate...this water...to put out fires...that are...in your way. He then hands Light a container full of water. "Now get...a move on...consider this...your final test...from me." With that the Sage's eyes closed, he was dead. "No master! Don't die!" Said Light as he saw this. He then knew that he had to do what his master had told him to do. "I won't let you down master." He said as he opened the container and dipped the brush into the water. Light made his way upstairs to his masters quaters, putting out fires as he went with the power of water manipulation. When he finally had reached the floor where his masters quarters were, he noticed that it would be impossible to get in by normal means, due to the fact that a support beam from the floor above had fallen through the floor and caused both a section of the floor to be destroyed, creating a gaping hole and also on the other side of that hole was a barrier of debris from the falling beam, barring access to the door. Thinking quickly, Light ducked into his room and opened his closet, The wall on the opposite side of the closet door was the only barrier keeping him from his masters quarters. Light then used a trick he had learned from his master during one of his first training sessions. He pointed the paintbrush at the wall and let a ball of water hover in front of it, he then removed certain elements from the water causing it to become unstable and explode. The wall gave way and Light entered the room. He then saw the tapestry and moved it away and revealed a hollow in the wall. In the hollow was a small chest with a special rune where the keyhole would be and another one that was below it. The top one told if the chests lock was open or closed while the second one told if the chest was magically being held to the floor, making it impossible to move or if it was capable of being moved. Luckily for Light the tethering charm on the chest was not secured, so he was able to take it out of the hollow and escape from the now structurally unstable temple. When Light eventually made it to the enterence of the temple, he had found to his dismay that the roof had fallen from the floor above barring access to the front gates. "I'm trapped!" Said Light in disbelief, after he had gotten so far, just to wind up cut off from the outside world. Just then, a powerful magic blast came from behind Light. It eradicated the barrier of debris and allowed Light a chance to escape. Light tuned to see who had saved his life, It was His master who had somehow managed to get himself free from the sword that had stuck him to the support beam, he was now crawling on the ground, no longer able to walk. "Master! Your alive!" Said Light, as more tears started to well up in his eyes. "Go now...you fool...forget about...me!" He said to Light. "No, I cant do that!" Said Light. "You must,...now GO!" He said. Just then, the roof above the sage had given way and crushed him beneath a pile of debris. the force of the impact threw Light out the door and through the front gates. Light then got up and faced the temple enterence "MASTER!" He cried out, but to no avail, his master was dead and he could do nothing to change that. He then turned to the chest, It was still locked, and he had no way of opening it. "I must find some way to get this thing open." He said. He then started down the mountain path, knowing he could not return to the place he had once called home, because it was now a heaping pile of rubble.
