When I started Gaia, I decided that I didn't want to have a journal. I didn't want people to look through my thoughts and pick them apart thread-by-thread and put me in a box and tuck me away in their heads without once having spoken to me. Which is interesting, because when I was young all I wanted to do was write. I wanted to compose big thick leather-bound books that people would read and be changed by. Then I realised that artists are so much better liked, because people would rather see themselves flattered than read someone else being flattered, who might actually deserve flattery even if they are fictional.
