If you read this, then it means that you are about to read a few sections from my story, DUSK.
heart Prologue heart
When Kam Strayling was young, her grandmother would tell her all types of stories of make-believe. But every time the child would visit, she had to be told the story of the Guardians at least once. If not, she would beg to her grandmother until she gave in to the request.
“Alright darling,” her grandmother would say. “Once, long ago, in a land called Mavis, there lived a Sorcerer and Sorceress who everybody loved and came to for help. Now the two were good magic welders who enjoyed using their magic to help people, not destroy them. The townspeople thought that the two were so wonderful, so they began to call them the Guardians. The Sorcerer was the Guardian of the Sun, because he got his power from the Sun, and the Sorceress got her power from the moon, so she was the Guardian of the Moon. The Guardians protected their town from all the diseases and famine that came through, but there was one evil that they could not stop.”
“What was that?” The little girl would ask.
“The Sorcerer Dusk.”
“Dusk?” she would ask.
“Yes, my dear child, Dusk. Now Dusk was not like the two guardians. He wanted to use his power for evil. By stealing magic from the Guardians, he was able to turn the land of Mavis into a world of dusk. It was never night, it was never day, it was always dusk.
The Guardians tried to fight him with the power that they had left, but Dusk was too powerful. So, by trapping their own souls into a necklace, they planned to defeat Dusk. They had hopes that their descendants would be more powerful then they, and would be able to turn Mavis right again.”
As always Kam would ask, “Did they Grandma?”
“That answer will come soon,” would always be the reply given to her. Unfortunately, it never came, and now her grandmother was dead.
