Happy New Year!
2004-01-01

Happy New Year! After Thanksgiving, New Year's is my second favorite holiday.

I love the whole resolution thing. I don't think of resolutions as things that are set in stone that mark you as pass or fail at the end of the year. I look at them more like aspirations with a plan of action. If I meet them, wonderful, if I don't, I tried and that too is wonderful. For example, I joined Five Hundred Miles to Nowhere last year in the hopes of dancing (and dog-walking) five hundred miles. I only made 109.47 miles dancing and 116.4 miles walking Pepper. That's a total of 225.87 miles. Not even halfway to 500, but still that's a lot of miles! That is more than I would have done if I'd never tried. A lot more. As in, 225.87 miles more than I would have done otherwise.

I've already signed up to try again this year. Some people are shooting for even more than 500 miles this year, but I'm sticking with my original goal even more determined to make it.

I'm also going to take some dance classes to add to the miles and in preparation for that I'm going to take some Yoga classes again. So even if I don't make it this year too, I should still get a great deal more exercise. This is my physical resolution.

I also plan to start seriously submitting money to my retirement funds this year. This unfortunately will be somewhat on the backburner until I figure out what's going on with my job. ^_^; This is my financial resolution, but none of this is set in stone as I said. If something comes up, I'm not going to worry about it. I also hope to make some more designs for my store. I've got some really neat ones in mind.

My intellectual resolution is to take some classes this year. I'm hoping to take at least one per semester. I've decided to start collecting Associate Degrees and I'll do it one class at a time if I have to. ^_~ I'm wanting to take a Maya class in the Spring semester and a 2D animation class in the summer (in addition to the yoga and dance classes, of course).

I'm going to start reading The Artist's Way again for my spiritual resolution. That book is really great. I'll read through Simple Abundance again too.

I'm not making any social resolutions. I like being a hermit too much and besides, almost all of my other resolutions get me out of the ship and that's good enough for me. No need to overwhelm myself with social interaction.

Happy 2004, darlings!

I love new years!
