Princess-Orphelia requested I write something cute for her thread. It was a change for me, and I think I did okay. whee

"Orphieeeee!" The little elf bounced around the corner. Literally. She was wearing springs on her shoes. Carrying far too many items for her small size, she had left a trail behind her of random things that had fallen from her arms. She came to a stop, bobbing up and down on her springs with excitement, in front of her fellow elf. "Lookit! I made all this stuff!"
The elf known as Orphie looked at the assortment, wide-eyed. "That's a lot of stuff, Tori!" She then tilted her head to the side. "I don't know if Santa needs that much...does he?"
Tori, as she was called, looked down at what she was holding. "Welllll..." she pondered, as a magic princess wand lost its balance atop her pile and fell to the ground, turning the carpet pink. "I guess not," she concluded, pouting. "I just got so excited I couldn't stop."
Orphie nodded in understanding. "I'll go in there and turn off the radio," she announced. "Don't feel bad about it. Last year, when they started playing Christmas music, I made five thousand cookies!" Tori gasped and bounced a little, clapping her hands. "I had to use them as tree decorations," Orphie finished, beaming widely.
"I bet that was the tastiest tree ever," Tori giggled. "Except for the cotton candy tree in the lobby." Santa's workshop was filled with all kinds of wonders, yet for all that magic, they still hadn't been able to conjure up a radio station that played Christmas songs before Halloween. When asked, Santa had given them some story about an agreement with Jack, but the truth was, Christmas music had a tendency to make elves incredibly hyperactive, and he just couldn't handle that all year round. They would always zip around and make the reindeer nervous.
"Yeah, but what are we gonna do with all the extra stuff?" Orphie asked. Tori opened her mouth to speak, but she cut her off. "No, we can't keep them this year. I heard some of the elves on the top floor kept taking things for themselves last time, and then one of them took home an enchanted snowglobe that was supposed to go outside, and the whole room got filled with snow."
As if on cue, the carpet changed colors again. "You have a point..." Enraptured by the sight, Tori stood watching the floor until it turned a brilliant sparkling silver, then looked up at Orphie frantically, her eyes wide. "I want it to stay that color!"
Orphie picked up the wand, stood on her tippy-toes, and placed it back on top of Tori's pile. "We could give it to people," she said suddenly.
"The floor? It's really pretty, but I don't think we're allowed to..." She trailed off, wondering.
"No, silly, the stuff you made!" Orphie giggled at the idea of putting the carpet in a box and trying to fit it down a chimney (completely neglecting to realize that Santa gets down there somehow, so it must be possible). "We could go to town and talk to people and chat with people and play with people and then we could all sing songs and make snow elves and eat cookies and--"
"One thing at a tiiime!" Tori whined, bobbing on her springs. A string of lights fell from her pile, pulled itself up into the shape of a stick figure, and started dancing.
"Oh, okay, yeah, and--and we could give them stuff, like...they could win prizes for stuff!" Orphie finished triumphantly, trying to follow the stick figure's dance moves. She wasn't keeping up very well. Those lights had some serious groove. She gave up and plopped down, wrinkling her nose.
Tori looked around. "Hey, where'd you go?" She made her way over to the corner and carefully put down the load she was carrying. With her line of sight free, she spotted Orphie immediately. "Oh, I see you!" She bounced over and sat down next to her, grinning. "Yeah, I love meeting people. That's the best idea ever!"
"Yay!" Orphie clapped her hands. "I'm gonna go make some cookies to celebrate!" She hopped up and darted off, ignoring Tori's cry of "Make sure you turn off the radio first!"
