Shark tooth inn, Romani Seaport, Transylvania
Derrich's Room

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The room was spinning. Virgil Mercury shook his head left and right, shaking away the fog in his eyes. When he could finally see straight, he noticed he was in a small room. The walls and floor were the same brown wooden planks. It had to be the Shark tooth inn. He looked straight ahead of him and saw Derrich Howwelcrow leaning against the wall in front of him. He was still wearing his usual attire. Black pants and coat with gold lined seams. He walked over to Virgil, who now realized he was tied down to a wooden chair. The gash above his eyebrow seared with pain as sweat rolled down his forehead. " Where am i? Release me at once!" He shouted at Derrich. His eyes darted around the room. The gash began to burn much more severely and he was growing impatient. Derrich walked closer and leaned towards him. " Do you know our friend here nearly tried to kill you?" He gestured towards Dieter Belmont who stood near the door of the room. Virgil's patience was being tested. " I am in no mood to jest! Release me now!" He was breathing heavy with anger. " Do not anger yourself..." Derrich said. " Turning into a werewolf now would be a foolish choice." Virgil began to calm himself down. He had already began to grow hair on the side of his face, but when he began to calm down they had vanished. " What is it you want from me?" He said, lowering his voice slightly. Derrich walked around him. " I am going to release you. If you plan on slaughtering any of us then you'd better think twice. Virgil took his word for it. He hadn't planned on slaughtering anyone either way. Derrich untied him. Virgil rubbed his wrists. Now that he could see what was behind him, he turned around. Salem Greyhardt sat in a chair behind him with his rapier drawn. Salem was reluctant to sheath his blade but did so anyway. " You seem to require me for something....what is it you want?" Virgil said, with his eyes still on Salem as he put his sword away. Salem yawned afterwards and Virgil had been keen enough to spot his fangs.
" your....vampires?" Virgil questioned. Derrich laughed quietly. " We are indeed. Well Except for Dieter. He's the next in line to bear the Belmont coat of arms". Virgil was stunned. Not only were two of his three captors vampires but the third was a Belmont.
" A Belmont killed my father when i was a child." Virgil added. Dieter scoffed. Virgil heard his laugh and stood up with his fist clenched, he had become slightly enraged. Dieter stood in his battle stance with his whip handle in his gauntleted hand. Derrich stepped in between them both. " Our numbers are slim, the last thing we need is for you both to slay each other." Dieter slowly placed the whip back on his hip. Virgil calmed down and the hairs on his face once again vanished. " Now..." Continued Derrich.
" We are here to ask you for your assistance. We plan to Destroy Castlevania along with its twisted lord: Count Dracula." Once again Virgil had been stunned. There "quest" seemed ridiculous. " We all have a personal grudge against him, and you have one as well Virgil." Virgil's eyes widened. 'How could he know?'. He thought. Derrrich continued. " If i recall, your father pledged his loyalty to Dracula when he joined his army of darkness, tainting your family's history and bloodline." Virgil closed his eyes. The story was painful. " And when your father lay on the floor of Castlevania he told you, his only son, that he had been blinded. He wanted you to avenge him. To destroy the very thing he sought to protect: Dracula as well as his cursed castle." Virgil opened his eyes. He remembered everything his father had told him when he lay in his own blood on the marble floors of the great library in Castlevania, slain by Richter Belmont himself. Virgil looked up at Derrich. He nodded. " This life shall be his last." He said. Salem smiled. He had begun to like their new teammate. Derrich smiled at him as well. " Good. We make our departure in the morning. We still have one more slot to fill." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
