finding another bike wheel to replace the one I mangled: half an hour's confusion
knowing that all of that is to help me change my life: priceless.

biggrin

yup, totally biffed it on the bike tonight. went through a gallon of paint in an hour and a half doing the house (it'll need 2 coats), then decided to go for a quick bike ride afterward just for the heck of it.

I was going to speed up, do what I loved doing as a child and fly down the road so fast the wind took your hair and your breath and you just hung on... so I cranked up the gears as high as they would go (then you get the most bang for your buck), and just as I did that, the pedals went slack. My feet having lost their grip/rhythm, hit the gravel and I was partially over the top bar when the whole bike decided it would come with me.

Landed on top of the front wheel. The worst pain was in the heels of my palms because they kept me from cracking my head open, but after I dragged myself (somehow my feet ended up in the air haha) from under the bike, I discovered a giant gash in my right knee that was not yet bleeding but I figured was going to be gushing in a few minutes... it was a centimeter or so deep.

having decided nothing was life-threatening, I made to get on the bike and ride home again, but discovered the front wheel was bent to the point where it wouldn't turn all the way, and my front brake was completely smashed. I spent a few seconds fiddling with the brake when I remembered my knee, and started walking back to the house, holding the front wheel off the ground the entire way.

a quarter mile is a long way when there's nothing else to really think about besides how short of a distance it seemed on a bike, yet how long it took walking...

so yeah. the cut didn't even bleed that bad; it clotted quite nicely (still some oozage though), but there's a bunch of bumps and wicked awesome bruises that will make for fun show-and-tell at the garage sale Saturday. xD

there's even a tread line running down the back of my right calf, and it had spikes of dry skin sticking up like the mohawk thing on a lizard or dinosaur biggrin

concerning the cut, I can't much think about it without getting light-headed. the deeper it is, the less I like to deal with it.

after washing all wounds and waiting around for the dull ache in my palms to go away, I made off to find a bike tire around the yard that could replace the one I wrecked. took two tries, as the first one I picked (which i tested before working with) had a leak in it. Picked another, pumped some air in it, and got some help getting both tires off their respective bikes. unfortunately, it was dark by this time, and the mosquitoes were eating me alive and mom didn't want to help so the rest will have to wait until tomorrow.

so yeah. I hope it works. I've pretty much decided the front brake is useless, and tomorrow will try to take it off. (can't use it on gravel, anyways, because it doesn't have as much control on loose rock as the back one or something)

*sneeze*

will be sore tomorrow, guaranteed. pumping iron + epic bike wipeout = not a good combination.

haha~ ^.^
