The Eulogy Organization
Professions:
Exorcists - Primarily male. Usually ordained priests and ministers of the church. Trained to combat spirits, ghosts, demons, and demonic possessions. Very little physical combat training, however enough was given to keep them alive. Usual weapons include sanctified blades - swords or knives, holy crosses blessed with protective abilities, and miscellaneous tools required for specific missions.
Hunters - Male and female. Trained to combat various creatures, such as vampires, shapeshifters, high-level demonic possessions, husks, zombies, and other creatures that threaten the physical realm. Trained in various forms of martial arts, marksmanship, and subterfuge. Weapons vary upon the mission, usually silver-edged weapons, bullets, or crossbow bolts tipped in silver. Inadequate training to combat spiritual menaces unless possessing another person.
Trackers - Male and female. Trained to evade, pursue, track, and hunt - to a certain degree - various creatures that are being pursued by a Hunter. Moderate teaching in martial arts and physical combat, marksmanship, and excellent training in subterfuge and espionage. Weapons are mainly pistols of small SMG's, bladed weapons such as knives, short swords, and exotic bladed weapons. Can "tag" their target with an ephemeral device that gives the Tracker the ability to know the direction and elevation of their target at all times.
Psychokinetics - Male and Female. Classified through five Levels, Level 5 being the least powerful, and Level 1 the most powerful.
Level 5: Able to read minds at a short distance and sense the presence of other people in a short radius. Can communicate through other Kinetics.
Level 4: Able to read minds at a longer distance and sense the presence of others in a wider radius, and capable of short-range telekinesis. Can communicate with Kinetics and other people
Level 3: Wide-range mind reading, wide radius to sense other's presence, longer ranged telekinesis, communication, and able to subtly alter the will of other people. Can read the intentions, motivations - external and internal, and their auras.
Level 2: Long-range mind reading, presence sensing, telekinesis, and communication. Able to alter the minds of stronger-willed people and tap into their minds to view the world through their eyes. Aura-reading is more defined. Can levitate a short distance over the ground, and "leap" long distances as long as there is something to land on.
Level 1: Nearly limitless range of mind reading, sensing, telekinesis, and communication. Cannot stop reading minds, and will always know another persons thoughts regardless of their intentions to read or not. Can control another persons mind, see, feel, and affect their environment through their mind, and have the ability to nearly fly. Highly irrational, perceptive, and prone to losing their mind. Rare, and stored in remote facilities around the world. Only 8 in number of the entire population of the planet. Always traveling with five Level 1 Dampeners at all times.
Dampeners - Male and female. Classified in the same manner of normal Kinetics, however Level 1 Dampeners do not lose their minds and are far less rare.
Level 5: Can repress the Kinetic abilities of others through concentration. Can only dampen Level 5 Kinetics.
Level 4: Can repress the Kinetic abilities of others through concentration. Can only dampen Level 4 Kinetics and above.
Level 3: Can repress the Kinetic abilities of others through concentration. Can only dampen Level 3 Kinetics and above. Can sense when Kinetic abilities are used.
Level 2: Can repress the Kinetic abilities of others through concentration. Can only dampen Level 2 Kinetics and above. Can sense when Kinetic abilities are used, which abilities were used, and where.
Level 1: There presence automatically dampens the Kinetic abilities of those around him at a short distance, but can turn it off and on. Can sense when Kinetic abilities are used, which ones, where, and who did it. Can also sense if a Kinetic ability was ever used in that location, and generally who did it. Only ever around when a Level 1 Kinetic is present.
Creatures:
Spirits - Generally a low-powered ghost. Usually residual in haunting, very rarely interacting with the physical realm. Few become low-level poltergeists that last for a few years and have very little impact on the world around them. Prone to becoming vengeful spirits if their cause of death was traumatic and nasty. At that time, an Exorcist is needed, though one is usually the only amount needed.
Ghosts - A spirit who has gained cognizance, who generally know whats going on around them in the physical world. Generally envious of the living. Prone to becoming violent if taunted, and able to become high level poltergeists that last for longer than a few years, and generally stay with one house, resident, or item. Make mild to heavy impact upon their environment. Can also possess others. Usually need one to two Exorcists.
Demons - Incorporeal beings that, unless powerful enough, can only affect the physical world through a person or thing. The least powerful being Goblins and Glooms, with the most powerful being Ghasts and Scourges.
Goblins: Small creatures that usually haunt deserted establishments, usually abandoned prisons, insane asylums, and other places that dark or grisly things that have happened in the past. Cannot possess, and only function as shadows and "dark presences". Moderately difficult to remove due to having to be in the same location as the goblin.
Glooms: Incorporeal beings that have no designated bodies or shapes. Classified as "clouds of sadness, depression, insecurity, and desolation." Easily sensed and removed. The least threatening of any demon, and do not - can, but don't - possess.
Black Spirits: The usual henchman of any demonic excursion. Can possess a persons body. Abilities in dark magic, telekinesis, and mind reading, though not a Kinetic. Can only function within a host body, and will dissipate when not possessing another person. Moderately hard to be removed. Usually need to be trapped within a ward to be exorcized.
Dark Essence: A more powerful version of the Black Spirit. Can last longer when not under possession.
Nightmares: Possesses people through their dreams. Can kill within the dream world. Can only affect a person when they are dreaming, or through another when they dream. Deadly due to their inconsistency and random appearances, and can affect anyone. Hard to exorcize.
Defilers: As the name says: Defilers. Possess a person - generally of ill repute and ill intention - and use them to enact grisly murders, tortures, and other various nasty things, including cannibalism, necrophilia, necromancy, and skin-walking - they take the persons skin and "become" them temporarily. Hard to exorcize as they are extremely physically dangerous.
Butcher: Same as a Defiler, but do not toy with their victims or mess with their bodies. Simply killing or torturing is their game. However, they usually do it via "suicide" or by possessing a person, killing someone, and leaving the body afterwards and watch the aftermath. Extremely hard to exorcize.
Devourers: Devours a persons soul instead of outright killing a person. Usually take a permanent host body, and transform into something else to devour the persons soul. Sometimes the body survives and becomes a lifeless, motionless husk, or simply ceases to function. Very painful and excruciating to watch. Extremely hard to exorcize. Usually must destroy the host body to remove.
Ghasts: Extremely powerful demons. Possess a permanent host body, and gain powerful magical abilities that can defy the laws of reality. So powerful as to nearly almost always destroy their host body upon leaving. Out of control and hard to stop. Nearly impossible to remove, and nearly always must destroy the host body and sanctify it to keep it away. One host body per possession. Once removed, it cannot occupy another for a set number of years. Usually 7 to 13.
Scourges: More powerful versions of Ghasts. Cannot be destroyed, and exorcism must be done with a large group of Exorcists, more than ten to twenty. Have to destroy the body. Cannot possess again.
Fallen - Remnants of demonic possessions. A possession gone wrong and left to their own devices becomes a Fallen, a self-aware possession that truly believes it is the person it has possessed. Fallen must be killed to be removed. Prone to going insane, though few have actually become functional members of society, though they are continuously watched to make sure they do not go wild. Can be killed by any usual means.
Vampires - Unlike the traditional undead vampires, they do not drink blood, but the lifes essence of a person. Their spirit, soul, or aura. Can make more vampires by giving part of it's own soul to the victim, or devour only enough to leave it a lifeless husk that do their bidding. The older the vampire, the more powerful it is. Elder and Ancient Vampires are the coven leaders. Many exist as members of society, though far more act on their more base urges and exist in large groups - or covens - and generally hunt in one area or another, but usually just enough to not be noticed by the local law enforcement. Are not allergic to sunshine - just a nasty sunburn and incredibly itchy, garlic, or silver. Holy water, weapons, or projectiles tipped with the blood of a dead person are the usual means of destruction.
Shapeshifters - Can become any creature it has ever touched, including clothing, personality, mannerisms, and almost literally become the person they turn into. As for animals, mainly the more dangerous ones that do not require to be touched, simply seen. As with vampires, the older they are, the more powerful. Elder Shifters are generally the pack leaders. Need fresh blood to survive, generally animals, but sometimes drink humans, which make them prone to being the target of Hunters. Silver, beheading, dismemberment, and fire are the usual mediums of destruction.
Zombies/Misc. Undead - The usual end products of necromancy and vampires. Husks, zombies, Revenants - corpse possessed by a ghost, Liches - undead necromancers, reanimated skeletons, and the like. Silver and fire are the usual mediums of destruction.
Celestials - Humans who are manipulated by an angelic presence. Light skinned, haired, and of eye color. Well-meaning and justice-driven individuals, they usually join some law enforcement agency, or even join the Organization. They are only hunted if they Fall, or get manipulated by a demon. Any usual means of destruction is the norm.
Elemental - A spirit that takes the form of a base element: Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Aether, or Natural. The base four are general, while Aether is usually some magical-related entity, and Natural usually an animal that functions as a more intelligent creature. Exorcism is the general way to get rid of them. However, Elemental's are generally omens of change and great events, even death. Very few are evil, and many just go away after their message is delivered.
Various Mythical Creatures - As the title says, Various Mythical Creatures. Minotaurs, centaurs, satyrs, unicorns... Sometimes dragons. Crazy stuff crosses the Veil into our world. s**t just gets nuts.
