He, She (Version 2)
He, She

He met her on the shore
She had never seen him before,
He had never beheld such radiant beauty,
She thought he was a real cutie.

He felt himself drowning in the ocean of her eyes,
She could see his face was fair and wise,
He loved the way the tide washed at her feet,
She loved his lips glistening in the summer heat.

He moved his fingers through her gold, silken hair,
She responded to his touch and his alluring stare,
He kissed her rosebud lips; and then,
She pressed herself against him; they kissed again.

He could not imagine how this could be real,
She had never fathomed how true love would feel,
He longed to have her eternally by his side,
She wanted so desperately to become his bride.

He lovingly clasped her hands with his
She cherished the memory of love’s first kiss.
He held on to this glorious feeling
She didn’t resist, though it was her heart he was stealing

He knew, however, deep down that their love was forbidden
She sensed that her prince seemed guilt-ridden
He asked her, “What will become of our love if they should find out?”
She didn’t answer him; her heart was clouded by doubt

He embraced his lover desperately, with tears in his eyes
She tried to be strong for him, yet it was a brittle disguise
He wiped away the burning tears from her alabaster cheeks
She felt caught in time; minutes seemed to her like weeks

He swore that he would find a way to put things right
She watched as he walked away, then faded from her sight
He didn’t look back, afraid to see her heart being shattered
She never got to show him how much to her he mattered

He beheld his father’s castle, and cursed him just the same
She returned home to her people, and dared not speak his name
He was forced to fight in a war against his lover’s kin
She never understood why to love a man was a sin

He never got to hold her one last time
She received the news he had fallen on the battle line
He reached for her, though it was only a fading memory
She then renounced her people, and ran out screaming at the sea

He imagined the warmth of her body as the final chill took him
She thought she saw his face in the sunset, the evening growing cold and dim
He was a Prince of the race of Men
She was a Princess, an immortal, and the fairest of Elf-maidens
