As she sat in the kitchen she heard the door open. She waited for the usual honey I'm home but none came...slowly she made her way out to the living room only to see an intruder in the house. She tried to scream but couldn't, it was as if her whole body was frozen. The intruder turned around and saw her and came at her with a knife...slowly backing away she kept thinking to herself there must be a way out there must by a way out. "If your going to kill me I wish you wouldn't,"she said, " If there is something in the house you wish to take I will not stop you." The intruder looked confused, "If there is something I can help you with or if i can get you something to eat I will. I don't believe you want to kill me as much as I don't want to die, please just think this over maybe I can help." she said in a calm collected voice. The intruder not knowing how to respond quietly backed off," Your right I don't want to kill you and I don't want to steal anything you have, I've just had a bad day and I didn't know what else to do to get rid of my anger." he sighed. "I'm so sorry," he said. "I shall leave." "Stop!" she said, "is there anyway that I can help you? You look as if you could use a good meal and shower which I can gladly provide for you." "Ma'am," he said, " I cannot stay for I have intruded on you and your place here it is not right for me to stay." "But I want you to stay," she said, " I am about to fix dinner for my boyfriend and me and I would be delighted if you could join us." "Please stay, you can clean up in the bathroom take a shower I even have a pair of clean clothes that might fit you." "As you wish ma'am but I am not sure I feel comfortable staying now that I've done what I have, but I will." She showed him the bathroom and got him some clothes and then went to fix dinner. "Dear Lord thank you for giving me the strength to be able to do the right thing. I hope that tonight we can all learn a valuable lesson about forgiveness and friendship." As he came out of the bathroom and came into the kitchen the smell of fresh cooked seafood filled his senses and made him smile. "I hope you like Seafood Alfredo cause thats what were having," she said with a smile. "It just happens to be my favorite," he said. She smiled at him and then set the table. "If you will just have a seat right here I believe that is my boyfriend about to come in the door now. As he enters into the home he sees the stranger but doesn't pay to much mind cause he figures its just another friend he hasn't "Were about to have dinner are you hungry?" she said. "Am I hungry? Of course I'm hungry I'm always hungry...well not always." he laughed. As they all sat down to eat the laughter and chatting filled the house and a pleasant time was had by all. "It is sad that I have to go and I really did enjoy the time here." he said. "Please come back any time if I am not here just leave a note and I will get it when I get home." she said. "Thank you again. You have made me feel joy again and brought a new sense of hope into my life." he said. They said their goodbyes and he left never to be seen by her again. 2 weeks later she was looking in the obituaries and a familiar face was seen. It said: Max Johnson 45yrs old died of cancer last Friday at 12 noon. He had been in the Navy for 16 years and had not had a permanent residence. His funeral will be held on Tuesday the 12 at 2:30 pm. A special request for a young lady by the name of Marie Lowther to be at the funeral at this time.
When she saw this it was the day of the funeral. Quickly she got dressed in the appropriate attire and headed to the funeral. The service was quick for there were not many people there. A young man came up to her after the funeral. "Are you Marie Lowther?" he said. "Yes I am," she said, "why am I requested here." she asked. "Well it seems as if Mr. Johnson left his inheritance to you." he said. I thought he didn't have much," he said," but it seems as if Mr. Johnson put quite a bit of money away and saved it up for a special time, but I guess he didn't get around to using it." He accumulated about 2.6 million dollars over the time he lived and it is all going to you." he said. She was shocked, "You have to be kidding me I barely even knew him." "I understand this," he said, " but the answer to you questions are in this letter which he told me to give to you." She took the letter thanked the young man promising to talk to him again about the inheritance. Driving home the news had not yet sunk in that she was now in the possession of a lot of money. When she got home she quickly opened the letter and read its contents.
Dear Marie,
I am sure you are still in quite a shock of what has happened. I am happy now to know that my money will go to a good purpose and you will take care of it and donate some of it to good charities. I want to thank you again for the kindness you showed to me that day. You are brave and I know that you have God on your side. I hope that this money will help you accomplish your dreams and wishes. Oh and to let you know the day I met you, that night I let God into my life because of you. You showed me what it meant to be a Christian and I am so happy to have him with me now as my savior.
Thanks again,
Your friend in Christ,
Max. heart
