There are five Great Houses: House Clamoar, the leading export of metal in the Temeric Empire. While not being the biggest of the Great Houses, they are considered the most spread-out. The land owned by House Clamoar is the largest next to the land owned by the Empire itself, holding at the very least three-hundred acres, most of it under the village sheriffs. A large number of villages occupy the majority of Clamoaric lands, the capitol of said lands being that of Dervid where Lord Clamoar and his family live. Almost every village under his tutelage has at least ten blacksmiths in it, apart from farmers and other such needs. All metal – ore or otherwise – goes through Dervid to be bought by those who want the famous Clamoaric metal, some believing that it has mined from the very stars themselves. The metal is stronger and lighter than any metal on the market, and is thus far more expensive. The most known wielders of a Clamoaric sword are those in the White Tower, especially those with Metal Affinity or their Warden’s. The colors of House Clamoar are white and blue, the insignia being a sword with bird-wings spread from the hilt in white.
House Valorn, considered by many as the Horse Lords. The greatest steeds in the Empire come from Valorn lands, the hardiest and strongest of any breed. The most famous breed being the steel-gray stallions that many of the Imperial Watch use when called, or for private parties such as House Lords or their soldiers. Valorn land is slightly smaller in size than Clamoaric land, being only two-hundred and fifty acres in size. However, since they’re main export being horses, they have many villages specially dedicated to the upbringing of horses while the others simply take care of other things such as farming, smithing, herding, and the like. The colors of House Valorn are red and yellow, a rearing horse in black being their insignia.
House Bahlar is considered the sister house to House Clamoar, mainly due to their affinity for armor and warfare. While not the smallest House – nor the largest – they hold perhaps the least amount of land due to there being only twenty or so odd homesteads on their land. Holding about two-hundred acres of land, their main export is hired soldiers or, during peacetime, simply making armor. They have a contract with House Clamoar to receive part of their metal shipments to make their famous armor. Anything needed to defend the body from being hit – besides Talent – is devised there: Armor, shields, helmets, armor for horses, and the like. On a side note, House Bahlar is also known for its fine fabrics and clothing, considered perhaps greater than those made for the Emperor. The colors of House Bahlar are indigo and silver, their insignia a shield with lightning crossing it diagonally.
The last House, and considered the greatest, was House Farlen, legendary cavalry and peerless warriors. The holders of the most land – being almost four-hundred acres – they are the ones that are visited by the White Tower to find Warden’s for their Gifted. Hired mercenaries can be found there, but none of them quite equate to the majesty that is inspired when ones sees the Ghost Legion, the finest soldiers in the Empire. The leader of House Farlen was Lord Sarric Farlen, considered the greatest tactician and strategist in the Empire since Alor Bael, the famous swordsman that led to the fall of the previous Empire, it’s Emperor being corrupt and tyrannical. He is still heralded as the Savior of Temeria. The colors of House Farlen are checkered black-and-white, the insignia being that of a sun with two black lines running through its center.
