The Forgotten Children: A Murder, Chapter One.
In all honesty, I had no idea what was going on. My friends and I were being 'brave' and we went exploring the old, broken house. I told Jake it was a bad idea, too bad she was trying to impress us. She went in first, "Come on Morgan! Don't be such a wuss!" She crawled into the broken window. I shrugged and followed her in, that was a mistake. Kaite and Maya followed behind me. Jake turned on her flashlight and pointed it around the house. "It's a lot bigger then it looks.." Mumbled Maya, looking up.
"Everything's bigger to you!" I said walking over to her, I was at least a foot taller. Maya crossed her arms, "Thanks for the compliment..." She looked at Kaite, who was staring across the room. "What's up?" Jake asked running to her side.
"Them.." Kaite replied pointing forward. All of us, at the same time looked at eachother, we all screamed, and scattered around the house.
"Maya!" I shouted, out of breath, "Are you okay?" Both of us were out the window and were panting on the ground. Maya nodded, "But where's Jake and Kaite?" I shrugged, "Don't worry they'll be out soon." We waited, for what seemed like hours. I was scared now, so was Maya. "Wait here. If I'm not back in ten minutes, go get help!" I said sliding back into the house. Maya nodded and sat down on the crispy yellow grass. I didn't want to go back, but Kaite, she was my best friend. I had to do this.
The gang was gone, their guns were on the floor. I looked around and saw Jake's flashlight. I hit it afew times to get it to light up. I shined the light in front of me and cautiously called out to Jake and Kaite. "Guys? You alright?" I continued through the house, I saw Kaite and Jake lying on the floor next to eachother. "JAKE!?!? KAITE??" I ran to thier sides. I took one look at their bodys, I covered my mouth to muffle my scream. Pools of scarlet blood surrounded them, Jake's eyes were open and stared, they were lifeless. Kaite, her white tank top was stained with blood, she looked more peaceful, only because her eyes were closed. I shut my own, and took off my hat. As I reached forward to close Jake's eyes, I heard a loud crack, and a sharp pain in my back. I turned around to see, only for a second, a short red haired boy, a smile on his face. I fell forward. I screamed, or I thought I did. I heard a cracking laugh, that became hysterical, as I let myself slip into the blackness.
A moment later, I saw Maya's face over me. She was crying, "What's wrong?" I asked her with a worried voice "There's nothing wrong with me!" Maya didn't even stir. I began to yell, "MAYA! Look! Im fine!" I looked down at my stomach, the shotgun blast had torn a hole in my stomach. I touched it, it hurt like hell. "Okay," I thought to myself "I can feel, I'm not a ghost..." I looked back up at Maya, "But why can't she see me?" I was getting upset, these questions weren't going to be answered. I stood up, Maya was still kneeling, I couldn't understand a thing about this. I tried something, I picked up some pooled blood off the ground and wrote on the wall. 'Maya, Please, Don't cry, Im not dead, I don't know what's going on. I want you to go see a phycic, Maybe they can contact me. Also, I would like it if you would tell my parents what happened." I stopped writing when I heard Maya scream, I continued "Stop screaming, you'll bust my eardrums." It seemed whatever she did near my body affected my spirit. It was just a theory. "Maya, If you can read this,then say something.." I looked behind me, Maya opened her mouth. "Morgan," She mumbled "What happened? How are you talking to me? You're dead, soaking in your own blood, can't you see your body?" She pointed to my corpse. I replied on the wall, "Yes Maya, Jsut please, do what I asked, Jake and Kaite might have the same problem, I'm going to see if I can find them," I paused "Or their spirits..." I wandered into the house, hoping to find something, anything.
