Description - Brel is a pretty young thing, about average height. She's got soft features and warm, honey-colored eyes. Her hair is a light, rich brown and hits around her shoulder blades. There are small, thin braids throughout it, woven with colorful feathers and beads. She wears the rest of her hair either down or in a much larger braid. Usually she wears a cap with more feathers sticking out of it, but that's optional. Her ears are pierced, so earrings can be included. Simple fare like small hoops and the like are best. Or feathers. Brel has a thing for them.
Brel doesn't have many curves; she could be mistaken for a boy with the right clothing, though her voice would give her away. Her hands would give it away as well; they are small and delicate-looking, though there are calluses on her palms from her training with the staff. Brel is fair skinned as things go.

Personality - Brel is warm and sweet. She always has a smile on her face, and usually has a helping hand for those in need; she's not particularly shy. Brel is fairly passive temper wise, avoiding conflict whenever she can. She rarely holds a grudge. If someone manages to push her buttons in just the right manner, she can explode, and that can be dangerous since she is an untrained mage. She's also a bit absentminded, and can forget some pretty obvious things. She can be bossy once she knows a person well enough to come out of her shell.
Character History - Brel was given to the orphanage as a baby, along with her twin brother Juks. Their first five years they were street kids, and had only each other to rely on. That was the start of the very close bond they would develop. At 5, a pair of merchants adopted the pair as their own, and Brel was soon traveling all over the world with her parents.
At 8 years old, Juks fell deathly ill. It was a dark time for the whole family. Brel was very sure she would lose her brother. She prayed and prayed for him to pull through, and to everyone's relief he did, though he would never be the same. Brel found herself the leader of their games now, and took to her role reluctantly.
At 15, Juks took a job at a local castle for some money. He met their biological mother, and started to bond with her. Brel did not; as far as she was concerned the woman had lost all right to know them when she abandoned them. She has never spoken to her, and never plans to.
16, the twins hatched a scheme for money. While Juks was away at the castle, they found out that Brel could call cats. They decided to use this money to 'find' lost pets, including pets they themselves called away. They eventually got caught, and Juks was drafted into the military so the twins would avoid jail time. Brel was on probation.
When Juks was truly away, the cats started coming. At first, only house cats, and not that many. Over time, the problem escalated, until Brel had hundreds of cats of all sizes following her. Things came to a climax when a known man eater attacked her and put her in the hospital. Brel had to find a teacher for her errant magical ability. An odd mage came forward and agreed to teach her. Brel's parents agreed from desperation.
Brel doesn't remember most of her time with him. One moment, she was laying down to sleep after a day of lessons, and the next, she was being shaken awake by her frantic brother, who had aged. She found out several years had passed. She was taken to a mind healer for treatment, and enrolled in a magic school so she could truly learn how to control her magic.
Brel knows more magic then she should, spells leaping from her subconscious at the oddest times. She also developed an aversion to nursery rhymes, especially 'Ring Around the Roses'.
Brel finished her schooling with flying colors, and decided to join her brother in traveling the world. Who knows what the future holds for her.
Abilities
Summoning - Brel can summon cats of all sizes, as well as some birds.
Magic - Brel has a hidden fountain of knowledge for spells of a darker persuasion. She has rounded out her education at school but she will always be better with dark magic from her time with the mage.
Equipment - A quarterstaff made of red oak. A smaller wand (used for casting) made of cherry wood. Both are fairly simple, though the wand has a rune craved into it.
Companions - Due to her uncontrolled summoning, Brel has gained an animal familiar. It is a large male orange tabby cat. It always comes when Brel uses her summoning magic. It cannot speak or do anything special, though its presence does help Brel focus her magic. Other than that, it is simply a cat with a penchant for riding on shoulders. It likes to beg for tidbits and play with the feathers Brel collects.
