Yesterday, I was taking a bus to go to my work place, shouting “GOD! WHERE ARE YOU?” in my mind, thinking ‘bout how my life had been a terrible mess lately. Lots of cursing in my mind – which we don’t here to talk about my ramblings- , when suddenly a hot chic with cherry lips entered. Yeah, a big distraction that level up my mood, but no, let’s stop talking bout her… ha ha….
There they were, two guys entered the bus after that hot chic, one bringing a guitar.
‘….two guys with disabilities… one with left eye defect and another blind in both eyes… but who cares?’, I reached my player instead to listen to my fav music.
There were these ol’ grand ma and a poor-looking middle age woman who act so gentle and caring toward those guys, shamelessly too gentle that I feel the urge to vomit, or shut their mouth if I hadn’t being a ‘good boy’. The old grand ma talked to them like they were children, despite the fact that they were aged about mine, probably a bit younger, but yeah, twenties. She insisted to help those guys, willing to pay for them, asking some silly questions, and more importantly- treat them DIFFERENTLY as if those guys were some retarded men. Ouch, but those were touching, since both of the women seems generous and sincere. But this old-yet-nice grandma said, “I feel so sorry for them…”, with real passionate toward the middle-age woman (which I’m sure she had just known her by that time), in front of those two guys, which means she even did not acknowledge their presence there, yeah omitting their presence and their fine ears and brains there. I looked at those guys’ faces, seeing how their expression changed. Oh, man! And believe me…; they were not really happy about that. Smiling yes, but those old ladies sure missed something….
Well, after ‘special treatments’ from the old grand ma and the middle age woman along the way, finally those guys dropped by in the government facilities for disable people. Believe me, there were a hint of relief on their faces when they took off and both of them laughed bitterly toward their home. Sure, these days, finding generous help, rare sincere, and welcoming smiles from people who didn’t know you, was a real luxury. But, hey! They were not retarded. The government facilities indeed houses hundreds of unlucky people with disabilities, including severe mental retardation, but not all of them are. But Look a at them! Those guys just had defect in eyes!
Grandma, they just wanted to be treated equally in this life.
