Pittsburgh
Continued from "Delaware" and I'm going to start on Saturday, August 11th, 2007, as the bus trip from Dover was overnight. I'll briefly write about my experience in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as I stayed with my grandparents at their house for almost 2 weeks. I was there from the 11th to the 20th, but I had stopped writing in my notebook for about a week.

I remember the bus being late, and having to stay at the Wilmington bus station in Dover, DE for quite a long time, at least 7 hours, but I'm not sure this happened on the trip from Dover to Pittsburgh or not, possibly a different trip but I ended up having to sleep in a corner on my luggage again. I met my grandfather when I got off, it was pretty early in the morning, somewhere between 6 to 9am. The first thing we did was went out to go get breakfast, my grandmother Joan wasn't with us at the time. I drove a dark red SUV, and we didn't really talk much, I had too much on my mind.

I met Joan at their house, and we had conversation quite often. I used the basement to put my luggage in, and slept in the living room on an air mattress. At night I would use their phone to contact some friends and family, and of course, Devin. When I talked to Devin on the phone, we learned more about each other, our plans, and she really missed me. I talked to her throughout the week, but I remember one specific conversation on the topic of our future plans, and that she had planned to try out alcohol when she turned 21. It only bothered me because it was more than trying, she planned to get drunk, completely smashed, just to see what it was like, and I was just afraid that it would become a regular thing. Her morals were great other than that, her views on marriage, college, work, school, it was all legit.

Pennsylvania was, and is a beautiful state, even though the area seemed somewhat poor. It was probably what I was used to from living in Plymouth, where everything was top quality and high bidder, clean, richer, you would talk into a Wal-Mart or a Grocery store in Plymouth, and it would be pure white clean, organized shelves, every light works, none dim, smelled fresh, new products, but anywhere else and it was the complete opposite.

My grandfather worked at the Golf Course a few miles away, and he took me to work every time to help him out there. On the occasional rainy day, we would sit around at the bar and I would get some soda and watch the TV. My job was to help him with the Golf Carts, which I had a good time playing around with. I drove them to him as he washed them, and then parked them in the garage. If we finished early, I would tag along as he played a few holes around the course. At times it was stressful, but I enjoyed the experience and am glad today that I got to do all this. Those golf carts are pretty fun.

I remember on a Friday, the 17th, we went out to eat at a restaurant for lunch. I don't remember what I had but it was very good, and we had a nice conversation there. During the day, we would usually just watch TV, sports mostly. On Saturday we went to Subway, and I got my usual favorite sub. I don't remember how it came about, or when I told them, but I remember telling them that I wanted to go back to Delaware. I bought another bus ticket for Dover, which would leave on Sunday, August 19th. That day, we went to Wal-Mart after noon, and the bus was scheduled for late at night. My grandfather drove me to the station, it might have been at around 10pm, and I had been texting Devin while in line. This bus station didn't have anything special, it was just an open room packed with people in single file lines in one direction. I waited about 40 minutes while listening to music on my MP3 player sitting on the ground with my luggage. The bus came, and I headed for Dover again. My plans were to find a job when I got there, and Devin had wanted me to come over to her house since we didn't get a chance to last time.

There really isn't much else to share about my experience in Pittsburgh, it was merely a pause in my journey. I didn't realize how thankful I was of their hospitality. I had been in contact with my dad nearly everyday, as well as my brother.
